Actually CG only has one in your price range.

A bit up on miles so would need checking carefully

My XJ has 96k now and drives pretty much the same as the 62 plate 18k mile demo model i used two weeks ago when mine was in for a service and dpf forced regen due to a sensor failure.

You can find XF with the 3.0 from around £15/16 k and i do wonder if they would be a better buy long term.

Depends on what your usage is like.

I have to take mine down the A13 round the M25 and backnin the A12 at 5am in way home from work once a week if i am stuck in lots of slow moving traffic.

You also have the option of lpg with a petrol engine.

That car was "last serviced" at 97,000 miles which probably means its 100K+ on it.

How can you recommend that with a £1,000 bill coming up?

"Don't forget that they still have Jaguar sized bills.

The 112k service on an XJ 3.0d is over £1000 as it includes the cambelt."

And unless the dealer can produce the HPI documents, make sure you do your own check on it.

Is that good money saving advice?

Could well be if the HPI check flags up an issue - there's plenty of cars out there with outstanding finance that get sold to dealers who don't do their own checks. IMO it's better to spend £30 on a check rather than have bailiffs knocking on your door in six months time trying to repossess the car. If others feel they don't want that peace of mind, then that's up to them.

Yes, i agree. And its certainly money saving advice, given the implications if it all goes wrong.

It won't go wrong if you stick to car giant though.

Hi - sorry for late reply!

it's a Jaguar XF that I am after. Can get an 09/10 one for around 14k

Never thought of putting a manufacturers warranty on after purchase (had neve even heard of that)

Don't really like any new cars in that price range and trying to only buy with cash so dont want to (cant) go any higher

Check the tyres, I looked at a XF last week and it was shod with 4 different brands of ditchfinders.

Usually a sign of someone wanting something nice to drive but have sod all budget for maintenance.

I have to say, i'd find it hard to buy a premium car other than through a franchise "approved used" scheme, with a years warranty, that can be extended.

Far too much to go wrong.
