O2 lease - issues returning phone and getting PAC code
Has anyone been in this situation?
Got an iPhone 4 on personal lease (yes regretting it now but it sounded so simple at the time and we were told it was what they were doing with all their contracts in the future). We're now out of contract period, we want to return it, get a PAC code, port the number to a different network (getting a different phone from them).
O2 are incapable of confirming what the right procedure is for this. The website says return to store ONLY if you are upgrading to another O2 phone (this is not what we were told when we signed up for it) or get a jiffy bag sent out centrally to return by post otherwise. If sending back by post, allow 5 days for the phone to be recieved.
I can't find any comfirmation of at what point they'll give us a PAC code (presumably after the phone is received back?) so that means being without a phone for 5 days....and what happens regarding the notice period/line rental. Surely it should be possible to give them notice, use the phone for most of the 30 days, then use a PAC code to transfer the number to a new contract.
This is an absolutely prime example of how rubbish O2 are and why we are desperate to go to another network.
