Thanks for the new thread zippy! Just had a mammoth catch up.
Well done on the new job 3010.
Got back from Derby a few hours ago. Trains ran slowly due to bad weather but I had a game I bought with some of the iTunes credit I got recently so was happy as a clam
It's my sister's birthday tomorrow so she'll probably wake me at god knows when (we're both in our 20s but don't really act like it) so I'm gonna hit the hay.
DM if you're reading, I KNOW I spend too much time on here. But I don't give a flying bleep. I like you all and I like money saving. Any mates of yours should understand it's a little bit more involved than 'spending too much time on the internet'. I hope you stick around and work out a happy balance if you feel you need one.
Merry Christmas everyone xxx
Emma you don't spend too much time on here, either does DM:D:D:D:D

Can't see me making it to Morries at 8am tomorrow!
Maybe I'll just save myself for the great whoopsie run instead
G'night lovelys sleep well xx...those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

10% already added usually goes straight to owners. The idea is it is meant to go to servers and kitchen. If service good then pay plus leave a personal tip for waiting staff.
Better than good service you should leave 15% (split between cash and 10% on bill.
Excellant service and really good food then I would do the same in a smallish restaurant plus send a drink into kichen for the boys.
Believe me if it is top hole dining experience the kitchen staff really appreciate a beer and will love you forever.
Kitchen staff are always left out but it is their skill and timing that makes a meal.
The the usa it is different. Their the waiting staff only get their taxes paid by house tips are wages so I would always leave basic bill tip or even reduce or decline then give waiter/busboy bar cash tips seperately.
In states it is polite for a good service to distribute 20% amoung staff and I always take that into account before entering a restaurant.
Sorry for long explanation but if a waitress is handed a brown or purple note you make their day.

I know what you mean. I don't generally tip here unless I'm happy with the service. I worked as a waitress in the US briefly and in the restaurant I worked in everyone bar waitresses/waiters received at least the minimum wage. I received $2.16/hr and the rest were made up of tips (worked out well though as a Brit I was exempt from paying medicare and got my tax back at the end of the year, plus a cheeky accent used to amuse them so for a 6 hour shift I would get about $70 in tips, plus wages). Anything paid on card I also got. Maybe I had nice managers!

Oh dear this evening didn't go as planned, had OHs dad and sister round earlier and had planned to wrap more presents after they had gone.
So what did I do fall asleep on the sofa and not even had a drop of sherry.
Will say goodnight and hope I get up early in the morning now.0 -
