I have another question for you. We are eating out tonight as a family....somewhere posher than usual.
They add a 10% discretionary service charge to the bill automatically.

Would you pay it even if the service was good or decline and add your own tip?
    fairclaire wrote: »
From a personal point of view. In a posh place, if the service was acceptable or better I'd pay it. If the service was rubbish I wouldn't but it'd have to be pretty bad not to pay.
10% is considered a good rule of thumb as a tip in such establishments ;)

I agree, the staff in the industry are not paid well and rely on their tips.

    Good evening Elite
Very cold, wet and windy here in Suffolk. I heared that the Orwell Bridge on the A14 is closed to high sided vehicles, not that I drive one of those. Nor am I heading in that direction, I'm not going anywhere :)

Popped to MrTs earlier and got the rest of what I needed so tomorrow I can sit back and relax in the afternoon after I wrap up the rest of the presents.

Floflo I hope the bl00dy rain stops and your freezer and contents are safe. What a pig of a time for a leak to start grrrr

Bubbs I'm keeping fingers crossed that the rain leaves you in peace sweetheart, can't be much fun for you just now

3010 Good luck with the job, it is normal to dread it so just chill, enjoy Christmas and New Year (sorry smilies still not working but

Emerald hope you feel better by tomorrow

May open a bottle of wine tonight as I've had a hectic couple of days and feel I need a treat

Still can't use smilies but I'm woooping and clapping in all the right places
There's no place like home :)

Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.

Hugs and healing thoughts are always going your way.

I have had some good news job wise at last. :j

    I have a job. Woo hoo. :)

I start on January 13th as a Marketing Assistant. Is is normal to be dreading it? I don't know why but I feel so nervous. :o

Congratulations, any change can be nerve wracking but you will be fine, they wouldn't have offered it to you otherwise. Enjoy, but you miss some of the gliches.
