Yes I cant figure out why everyone gets excited about New Year - to me its just another day, another month.

Eldest child and BF book very expensive meals for New year - this year its a £99 meal in a Mitchelin and a B and B that will cost them £80 so that's nearly £300 - probably more after the drink and if you include petrol to drive to the venue.

I am biting my tongue not to comment that we have had lovely long weekends in Premier Inns and travelodges with meals using various vouchers and deals, Groupon offers for the activities and spent far less than this

They complain that they cant afford a holiday this year but if you add up New year, birthday meals out, the Sheffield weekend, the day they went to the Races, the seaside weekends, the September anniversary weekend etc - well I am sure it would have been far more than we have spent on some of our jaunts :)

But people have different ideas and to them the social life is all important. To me I don't care - I would rather enjoy a bag of chips eat sitting on a sea wall rather than an expensive meal in a restaurant and knowing that the money I've not spent will go to the next trip away - big smile

Yes i agree. My sisters are off to London for the weekend and will be eating at Locando Locatelli ( very expensive Italian restaurant) cause one sis has a £50.00 voucher to use ( will probably cover the water and bread!!). Then a trip to the theatre and meals and train adds up to a lot.
Supposed to be going to Nice with them both for 3 days in Jan but sis says her flat may be unavailable as she is having work done on it so that will entail renting somewhere to stay. The whole point of going was to stay in her flat which she has had for over 10 years but it was on a long term let and she only took it back last year. but if I say I dont want to spend a lot that will be wrong. Eldest sis has started her suggestions for spending everyone's money by saying Mum needs a new carpet and we all need to pay. Firstly Mum can afford a new carpet and secondly I need a new settee so I am just going to say no.

    Morning All,

Had an A delivery this morning as I had eVouchers to use before they expired.

Ordered 2 x cheap beef which got subbed for one more expensive joint. Checked A website and the price of the £4 Kg beef is now £7.50 per kilo so it must have changed overnight.

Pleased you're feeling better QoC :) - (even though it was self-inflicted :rotfl:).

I think I've run out of under £5 albums to download, I'm now on to singles. :o

Stupid question, does it work more than once on the same account ...?

    Many thanks

Morning everyone, hope we are all well, not hung over or suffering from gastro intestinal over indulgence problems and last nights storms have not left you roofless - jump for joy!

I think someone has updated me to IE11 so I cant get smilies - annoying - this is the trouble with having other people on your computer, they mess with things.

Always always when someone comes home we end up having to do a system restore or sort out some virus they have down loaded - mad.

Apologies again, can someone remind me how to get my old IE back - I should have written the instructions down but I did not expect this to happen - very annoyed with offspring.

Check first if you have got IE11 . Click on cog wheel on my laptop its in top right corner scroll down to 'about internet explorer' open should say IE11 untick box if it says' update automatically'. :)

If you have IE11 to uninstall .... Click on start then control panel click 'programmes' 'uninstall a programme'. Find IE11 download and click then 'uninstall' ;)

Restart pc when its uninstalled :D
  • I want a sada glitch on shower gel or shampoo - have been looking for last hour. Have to stop now but not giving up hope of finding one:)
