I was thinking of you with the floods. did they affect you this time? Yes i have already started the jar as my sis just came for wine and dishwasher tabs . Also my brother has a mobile toilet business and is buying most of my toilet roll stock. means I can get some more bills paid off. The meeting in Kettering starts at 9 so am booking a travelodge for night before and oh will drive me, drop me off at meeting and then he will travel on to scotland for some winter walking. I will then catch a train back to Bristol or see if anyone else from my area is travelling back.

No we went on flood alert on Xmas eve, but got took off yesterday, the river was VERY high, but they must have let some into the wash overnight xmas day/boxing day as was at least 2 foot lower yesterday morning although its still very high.
There is a travelodge there, what date you coming? we booked in travelodge in Northampton

Me either to be honest. It's always a let down. I think everybody's expectations are so high for New Years. I'm gonna have a quiet night in with the hubby and a bottle of champers. Probably will have a meal out with friends as well soon after. I can't be dealing with getting trollied at clubs anymore, too much hassle.

Yes I cant figure out why everyone gets excited about New Year - to me its just another day, another month.

Eldest child and BF book very expensive meals for New year - this year its a £99 meal in a Mitchelin and a B and B that will cost them £80 so that's nearly £300 - probably more after the drink and if you include petrol to drive to the venue.

I am biting my tongue not to comment that we have had lovely long weekends in Premier Inns and travelodges with meals using various vouchers and deals, Groupon offers for the activities and spent far less than this

They complain that they cant afford a holiday this year but if you add up New year, birthday meals out, the Sheffield weekend, the day they went to the Races, the seaside weekends, the September anniversary weekend etc - well I am sure it would have been far more than we have spent on some of our jaunts :)

But people have different ideas and to them the social life is all important. To me I don't care - I would rather enjoy a bag of chips eat sitting on a sea wall rather than an expensive meal in a restaurant and knowing that the money I've not spent will go to the next trip away - big smile

I love my food but can't I stand expensive restaurants. I'm far happier with who is sat round the table than what is served on my plate. 2 weeks ago there was 12 of us sat round a table in Frankie and Benny's having a fantastic time and every single one of us payed in T's vouchers. :D All we payed for was the wine/beer.
Great night out and cheap as chips :T
