He also run to say he has founded a jamie Oliver pizza stone half price for £9 - not even sure its worth that much or wether we would get much use out of it, so it any be returned tomorrow ...
If you want to make proper Italian-restaurant-style pizza at home, one of the main drawbacks is getting a domestic oven hot enough - often 600deg F or more, whereas domestic ovens usually max out at 450deg F. A pizza stone can help with this, if it's preheated in a very hot oven (as hot as it will go), as its a more even conductor of heat than baking trays etc. It should also ensure a crisp crust. Here's a helpful guide to how to use one

You can also get a crisp crust by rolling out the pizza dough on a dusting of semolina.
But probably the most important is to make your own pizza dough, if you're not doing already. It's pretty simple, and can be done in a breadmaker or food processor (I favour the latter); I have a couple of pizza dough recipes that I use regularly, which I can dig out, if you want.
The pizza stone can also be used for baking bread, roasting garlic, drying herbs, tortillas, pitta breads, cookies etc etc.

Coincidentally, Santa brought me a pizza stone this Christmas:)
