Horse and hound have a good forum - lots of topics. Just use google and horse and hound and find forum on right hand side of page and register to post. For products etc depends on what you want - cheapest is not always best - if it's rugs for instance and you have a broad horse you may need to buy a well known brand to get the best fit (I expect you know this). I'm not sure that we can post links to providers - I would be happy to do so if somebody could let me know either way. On supplements it's often a case of what you want and where you live because postage charges can outweigh the savings. We tend to buy from suppliers that provide good service and best value for money and are also fairly well known - I had a case once where I ordered and paid for a rug, amazed that the women had it because no-one else did, including manufacturers. She didn't either and I had to threaten legal action to get my money refunded. Alternatively if someone tells me how to do this, I would be happy to email you separately a list of retailers that I have dealt with and would be happy to recommend. BD1

Thanks very much Bouncydog. Yes I agree cheapest isn't always best. To be honest, it's more a case of, finding sites that offer cheap brand names rather than cheaper options, if that makes sense, kind of like discounts on well known brands, rather than buying from the well known brand sites where you pay a fortune!

I'm on horse and hound, but if you are allowed to post names of sites you use, or even message me that would be great, not sure how you do this tho as I'm new to the site, sorry.

Either way, thanks for taking the time to reply

As far as I know you are allowed to post links to web pages as long as you don't make money from that website. :)

*sits back and waits for lots of lovely links for horsey things (I'm just a rider not an owner).*

You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.

Oi you lot - please :heart:GIVE BLOOD  - you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.

I go on saddle-up forum, you can view most of the site for free but i think you have to be a member to post in all sections now (Subs £5 6 month/£10 a year), so you can view and make you own mind up if its worth paying for :)

    Hi
www.barnstormers.co.uk excellent site for Shires product - they are a main stockist and lovely people to deal with. They even went to Shires warehouse to see if they had a pink fleece from an old line that my daughter had seen!!

www.pinkequine.com - fabulous bridles etc. all in quality leather with coloured edging and swarovksi crystal brownbands. Superb quality numnahs and saddle pads to match the bridles. Owned and run by a lady named Denise - again fantastic customer service. They were also selling rugs and boots.

I have no commercial interest in either of these stockists, but having dealt with them in the past have no hesitation in recommending either of them for the quality of their products and customer service. Yes, you can buy more expensive rugs than Shires, but we have had ours for c4 years now, get them cleaned each season and they are like the day we bought them.

You can just as easily wreck a £250 rug the first day the horse wears it and rips it as a £120 rug and the quality on the cheaper Shires rug is as good as the more expensive rug, meaning we can buy 2!!!:rotfl:

Agreed !!! lol Very bad for the bank balance.

eBay is also good for some stuff. There was a good shop on there pre-equestrian. Very reasonable shires products - rugs etc - last seasons colours but who cares really. Not sure if they are still trading been about 6 months since i bought anyting from them. Postage is limited no matter how much you buy.Think they also have three shops as well.

BTW - they are nothing to do with me, i just find the products and service worth mentioning. :)
