Back from my mad trip over to south africa. springdreams despite only being there tuesday to thursday, wed and thurs being filled by the conference, i did manage to see a bit of joberg and soweto. After almost missing plane (virgin woman sent me to wrong terminal so crazy dash from terminal 3 to terminal 1 in 35 minutes including agonising 7 min wait for bus!) got to hotel at 11 am. They were able to lay on a driver (just under £100 for 4 hours so not very mse but decided i may never get the chance again so worth spending some pocket money on). Went to the prison, mandela's house which is now a museum and tutu's house, well outside cos that's still his house. Talk went very well, hotel lovely, and have 2 travel toothbrushes and toothpaste for dd2's advent crackers :-)
Dad had had his colonoscopy and nothing more detected so that's very good news. Good to see good news of others' dads on this thread.
mrsm those heart books are fab. Very talented.
Dd1 now home basically till she gets a job so will be giving her flylady tasks each day as she has requested :-). Ds has found a flat for next year - cant remember if i told you guys how last year his flatty did a flit and we ended up getting stung. Well this time he's sharing a flat with his mate whose mum owns the flat so should be safe there! (And £50 pm less)
Dd2 back from 2 week in london. She's not had any success jobhunting as yet so we're still tiding her over. However i am confident she will get something soon, and hopeful dd1 will (if in edinburgh her sister's flat has a spare room). So money should get easier again. And so....
We have said yes to the windows quote yay and they are getting done end of the month whoop whoop. Dd1 and dd2 have started helping me decide on how we will then decorate the house. Very exciting.
Off to a crochet beginners workshop today with dd1. We are assured of success in 1 granny square, hooing mine isnt more of a granny knot!
Have a lovely weekend to you all x

I now have my fruit soaking for the Christmas cakes, ( I do 5 medium size extras for presents), I have 1.5kg of fruit soaking in a bottle of brandy.
Very expensive brandy and a lot of air miles.... £1.50 from when we were in Goa.

Miss hoodie now has a new job, stirring the fruit on a weekly basis then were make the cakes around the start of November...

not to bad here, Dads been up and down and really tired bless him, he's picked up a bowel infection, I was asked to take a sample down to the doctors - so i took his bag....
It was not a pretty sight - I'm in the ladies squeezing the bag into a sample tube.... I was gagging, I had 3 people knock on the door asking was I ok, when I came out, one lady came and congratulated me on the baby, such a shame i have bad morning sickness....... I didnt have the heart to tell her what I was really doing!!

i'm doing something for me at the mo, I started knitting a scarf its silver, gold and black wool, only cost me 50p for 4 balls of the wool, from a junk box, the bloke selling it thought it was pot puree container.... Should be finished tomorrow....

Next knitting task - got some lemon, pink eyelash wool so going to knit Miss Hoodie a scarf..

Finally made the muffins - it turned into 6 muffins and a loaf size cake, it was gorgeous.

    4oz self raising flour
    4oz butter
    4oz sugar ( I used 2oz brown, 2 oz white)
    2 eggs
    splash milk
    3 over ripe bananas
50g walnuts (chopped - thou i forgot to)

    --
    Mixed the butter and sugar
Add eggs bit time with flour
    add rest flour
mash bananas in seperate dish, add to mix, add walnuts
add milk to make a softer consistency

    Muffins, bun - 20 mins Gas 4
    Loaf /cake - 40 mins gas 4

So moist, an be served sliced with butter xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

mum2one so glad to hear that grandad hoodie is now back home i hope he continues to recover and do well

susan so sorry to hear your dads still poorly and back in hospital, i hope everything is being done to give him proper care and treatment

hugs to everyone elase who needs/wants one

the books werent hard if you follow the instructions online, basically you go through the book once you find your start page and measure marking two pencil dots on each page once youve done all your measurements you go back to the first marked page and fold the corners up to the marks is as near to a right angle as you can get. repeat this on each marked page and when you stand it back up you have the shape formed in the creases and folds youve made.
i tie a ribbon or something round just to hold the book closed enough to get the right shape on the heart outline.

im at hospital again this afty with mil, shes got to have a scan on her lymph nodes as they looked swollen at the check up after the surgery to remove the cancer so fear is its got into them.

Mrs M - Hope the scan went ok for mil,

I've just checked on the fruit, and its looking very plump and juicy, so just topped up the containers with bottle of sherry between them.

Not a bad day today, we had the 1st hospital appointment for the stoma nurse, all went well go back next week to start the ball rolling as they say..

Miss Hoodie had the dentist, bless her a filling, as she chipped a tooth, that was 2 injections - cost me £5 for her being so brave.

Hoping for a quiet weekend, - was going to start the great tidy up, but I think that notion can stay on the back burner!!

I've got grandad hoodie on 1 settee, with Miss Hoodies dolphin blanket (snoring)
Nanny Hoodie - on the small settee, Miss hoodies dog blanket (snoring)
Bailey - on the floor - no blanket, - infront of the fire (not on) ( yes - snoring!!)

Miss Hoodie - in the kitchen - cooking herself a bacon buttie...

    ----
Some good news - after all the kitchen saga - we've been offered a £250 goodwill gesture from the contractors, it started off £150... held out, its going to cost the contractor, as we have already had £250 refunded which we paid the policy excess! That teach them to mess with the hoodie family... xx
