Challenge 2018 - Learn by heart the Book by Wayne Morgan on Amazon - Betfair Football Trading as it helps to supplement my small income
  • I'd like to join in with this challenge as I would like to be money neutral for Christmas presents in 2014. I started a bit late this year and although I saved a fair amount I have had to spend on pressies this year so by starting early I would like to collect and earn through the year.

Please can I come back for 2014 - 2013 completely passed me by. Although I haven't paid full price for most presents in 2013 I have let the surveys slip and would like to earn more for 2014. We had a drastic reduction in income the second part of the year and this will continue in 2014. OH decided to go on supply which has been excellent for his morale and health but not so good for our finances. I also need mum2one's challenges to keep me on track.

I have followed the 2013 thread (just not put it into practice:() and would like to say a big thank you to mum2one for all the hard work you put it:T

Count me in. Now xmas 2013 is sorted, started to think about 2014. Annoys me people who leave xmas to the last minute and then complain they have no money for it. Like the great martin lewis says, xmas is on the same date every year.x
:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.00
  • Count me in too please. We've managed Christmas on a budget but I'd like to be even more prepared next year as money is very tight.

Amber - you have said the truest words.

-Mother hen moment - If your using a Frozen turkey for Christmas, check the defrosting times, we have a turkey crown for 6/8 people - and that wants a 36 hour defrost...

All presents now delievered, the corner looks quite odd without any bags in there!

Started getting a couple of bits ready for 2014, went onto Argos clearance,

(that for a friend shes expecting little girl in Feb)

(got 4 of these - ready for birthday presents, - got 1 myself there a nice size)

(thats for mum and dads wedding anniversay)

It was toss up of collect in store tomorrow - from a retail park - or pay £4 for delievery - normally would fetch them, but its Xmas Eve, - retail parks are no -go, so having them delievered in New Year - dont need them before that.

So 2mor, Tax the car, (or hopefully tax the car as not been sent reminder, so taking V5 as the website can use that), weird as both dad and my cars are due end of month, and he's had his already.

Take Miss Hoodie to the cimema, - very mse as were going to a movies for juniors £1 showing... Pizza tomorrow ngt.

  • challenges for next year for me:
buy plain cards and envelopes cheaply and chop and stick from cards we've received this year, will be good for ds too (he'll be 2.5 yrs then). Also only do cards to send by post, giving them to people we actually see on xmas is a waste, may do charity donation instead.

Pick up gifts when I see them but not go overboard

Do a charity shop challenge for presents: set budget with family members then you can only buy in charity shops or make it yourself

This year- save as much wrapping paper and cards as possible!
