Actually, thats a myth as far as Im concerned thats said a lot by people who dont like cats (Im not suggesting you dont, Ive just heard it said a lot)

My cats are independent, they can feed happily from food in a bowl, are low maintenance, but they love me, would never be without them.

I have 7 cats, they all share my services.:o

You might never be without them but they'd be equally happy with one of your neighbours and could up and move if the mood takes them or if you offer substandard service.

Thats cats, I'm pretty sure all of our cats used to spend their time plotting to kill us, they all seemed to enjoy rubbing up to our leg and then attacking us when we went to stroke them.

They certainly aren't stupid - they figured out my younger brother was a bit nervous of them so one of them used to hide when he was coming up the stairs and jump out at him, give him a sheathed claw pat, and then leg it when he screamed. Never did it to anyone else! (to be fair it was an occasional game not everytime he went upstairs - a sort of wind in the tail sort of thing)

Cats always know the people who don't like them and make a bee line for their laps.
  • Is it a boy thing, I wonder? We have a lot of girl cats who slaver and fawn disgustingly over my son. They're a bit 'meh' with the rest of us girls - we'll do if he's not around, but we're definitely second class citizens in their eyes.
Maybe your new girl is a bit like that?

I feel a bit embarrassed for them, frankly.
I think they let themselves down really.

She just doesn't trust you yet.

She doesn't have to, at times you get an animal that needs a bit more time that's all. Get to know eachother and it will be fine honestly. It isn't always instant attraction between human and animal, they need to suss eachother out ect.

You seem to care about this, so u'll be fine...females can be !!!!!es. find your own fit.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

    is she spayed ?

our lily hated me with a vengeance when we first adopted her, jumping on my back with her claws used to leave me in tears

when she came into heat she had to be spayed and although at first she dint change much, now shes the most adorable, loving girl in the whole world

she likes nothing more than sitting on your lap, padding and purring, shes only just starting mewing too, sounds like a tiny lambs baa but at least shes trying, she sometimes let me stroke her tummy and lets other half pick her up

Cats are like people in as much as they have their own personalities and you just have to accept them for who they are.
