Hi, Yes it is there, and I've done the thing where you click on 'all' but when I choose it, then this page comes up "http://www.iegallery.com/en-gb/Addons/Details/3381". Then when I click on the 'add to internet explorer' button, it says 'The following Accelerator is already installed'. But still URL defaults to google.com. And it doesn't mention anything about using as default search engine, just as a default 'accelerator'. Thanks again.

OK, so it looks like it is installed as a search engine. It's still showing Google.com because that's still defined as your default. When you do a search you should then be presented with a drop down list of available search engines ... select Google.uk and look for a check box to make THIS your default.

Might be a good idea to quit and restart IE10 too.

And a further thought. Look at the IE Toolbar (press the Alt key on your keyboard if it's not already showing) and select Tools. In Tools select Manage Addons and look for Search Providers and make Google UK the default from there.

Ah, now that's where I seem to be going in circles - in Tools / select Manage Add ons - it says default is 'google.com'. But then when I try to 'find more search providers' it comes up with that same choice of google.uk as an accelerator, so I'm going round and round in circles :(. And I still haven't writeen my xmas cards out :)
Thanks so much for trying to help with it - I really appreciate it.

Well, Sorry to say I'm all out of ideas. Without IE10 in front of me I'm like a blind man in a maze :(

I think I'll have to bow out and have a recuperative whisky :)

Hope someone else with IE10 will eventually provide the solution. Best wishes and Merry Christmas.

  • Thanks Oblivion - you deserve a whisky lol x
  • Anybody? :)
I'm thinking nobody knows because it is impossible.
I have been researching this on the internet and I think for some reason it has been made impossible to change address bar search to anything but US Google. Just to clarify - I'm not talking default search engine or searching from Google in general, I'm talking about specifically from the address bar.

  • Just curious: Did you cut and paste that address from IE9?
