Change IE10 address bar default search from Google.com to Google.co.uk

Hi Techies, I've just wasted 2 hours of my life that I won't get back trying to work out how to change the address bar default search from Google.com to Google.co.uk in IE10. I've got the Google home page set as 'Google.co.uk' and that's fine. But when I search from the address bar it redirects me to Google.com. None of the solutions anywhere on the internet work. P.S. I'm really really not technical so no jargon please

If you go into Control Panel and select Region and Language, is your location tab set to United Kingdom and the format tab set to English(United Kingdom)?
If this is not the issue, try this. In IE10 Enter any search in the URL box and select google to search for it. When the results appear, near the top click on the box called Search Tools. One of the items that appears is your location ... is it showing a location in the UK, if not click on the little down arrow and enter your true location in the box.... Hi there, Thanks for helping. Yes I've done all of that and all the correct locations were shown but it is still directing me to Google.com when I type something in the URL address box.0

I've also been in 'manage add-ons', and in the search engine section it only suggests google uk as an 'accelerator' (?), which I chose, but under 'search engines' only google appears as a choice, not google uk. Even when you search for it on http://www.iegallery.com. There seems to be a lot of people searching for the same type of thing without an answer! Thanks x0

OK, I'm actually using IE11 now but you should have something similar in IE10.
In the URL Address Box you have some symbols to the right ... a magnifying glass, a down arrow, and a recycle arrow.
Click on the little down arrow and in the resulting drop-down box you will see in the bottom right corner a box called ADD.
Click on ADD and it will take you to a window of Search Providers.
Now the important bit, click on ALL and it will bring up lots more search providers and look for Google United Kingdom (it's the third icon along in IE11 but may be somewhere else for you in IE10).
Select Google UK and then look for a tick box that makes this your default search engine.... DaveHappily retired and enjoying my 14th year of leisureI am cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.Bring me sunshine in your smile0 -

Just adding to my post above ... I think you were almost there ... when you get to the page offering a choice of search engines you need to look for something along the lines of 'Show More' or 'Show All' and many more search options will show up including Google UK.... Thanks for that! Yes, I've actually done all of that and it IS my default search engine (i.e. when I open a new tab - Google uk appears). I also tried it all again. But in the URL box it's still the same story - it still defaults to Google.com when I type anything in there.
Thanks ever so much for your help!0 -
Hi there! When you said "Select Google UK and then look for a tick box that makes this your default search engine" Well when I choose Google UK there is no such box. Instead there is a box saying: "Make this my default provider for this accelerator category"???
But still URL is defaulting to Google.com.
Thanks again for your suggestions tho!0 -

This is where not having IE10 in front of me is letting me down. Hopefully someone who is still running it will come along and assist.
OK, so you reckon you have at least now selected Google UK as one of your search engines. If so, somewhere in the search area, possibly over on the right area of the screen, there should be a drop down box listing the search engines you have chosen which hopefully now includes Google UK, and there should be a check box or similar to Make This My Default Search Engine.... So annoying. But thanks so much for your help x0 -

But I'm sure it IS in the list of search providers, I know I found it when I ran IE10. When you get to the list it shows you mostly American ones ... you just have to look for an option button / link to show MORE providers which will include the Google UK one.
Oooh I wonder if this will work for you ... can you link to this page? ... if so, click on ALL and 3rd icon along in the second row should be Google UK (might be in a different location for you). Click on that and then on Add To Internet Explorer. Then once it's added you'll have to find the way to make it your default.
