I must be mad, braved the shops, then came home and decided to make beef wellington from scratch for me and my brother tonight!

    Afternoon All

Been busy here today, DD had to get the 7.20 train so I ran her to the station (the weather was foul), came back and cleaned the kitchen, went for a shower but there was no hot water - the boiler pressure had dropped and wouldn't come on. Topped it up but that is as far as my DIY skills go, friend across the road came over and pressed the reset button and away it went. At least I know what to do if it happens again. Can manage without the heating but not hot water.

Went to the tip with a load of cardboard boxes that have been unpacked over the past week, went to B&Q for some bits and bobs - that place doesn't really do it for me, had to ask another customer for some help in finding the correct screws!! Then went to Ikea for some more shelves for the pantry.

Put together said shelves, scrubbed a big dressing table tray for DD, put up some hooks behind the bedroom doors, put a lock on the shed, emptied more boxes, re-washed the kitchen floor, went back to the tip with some more cardboard and have just sat down. Only job left for today is to hem some material I got from Ikea for a table cloth.

Looking forward to strictly final tonight, not bothered who wins.

Thinking of you Jools. Butterfly Brain - hope your day gets better, perhaps you should hibernate for the shortest day!

    Take care. XX
  • I think that marrying my hubby was one of the most OS thins I've ever done as he can almost any DIY, plus he gardens, he's a star.
Were fine here Nelski, hope all is well with you.

  • evening all.
On late today as I have been nonstop since I woke up at 6am. Made some bread and started on a boiled fruit cake (must finish it tonight).
Had my hair cut and coloured (xmas treat to me ). Then off Xmas shopping with dd. Omg it is so busy in town. Got a really good deal off the butcher . 2 large chickens, huge bit of beef and 2 huge rolled pork and stuffing joints all for £20.
Still have to hit the supermarket in the morning as by the time we got back neither of us could face another battle of the trollys.
Dinner tonight was a quick visit to the chip shop as we now have to wrap all we brought.
So better get on and wrap pressies, finish the cake, sort the waging I put in the wm this morning and a quick tidy up.
    Hugs to all xx
    Bright Blessings xx

  • Hi everyone:)
Just popping in with a quick hello - got up feeling absolutely awful this morning, but luckily, whatever it was had passed in a couple of hours.
After that I spent the day in a frenzy of cleaning, pausing only to feed the family now and again!
Finally collapsed in front of the TV and a rubbish movie for an hour or two with a glass of wine, but am now tucked up in bed, listening to Brain of Britain on the radio, absolutely shattered and looking forward (hopefully) to a good night's sleep.
A safe and peaceful night to all of you x
