    Morning all!
Been up since 6, OMG! Just off to collect flowers to take to the cemetery tomorrow and get some food for the weekend. Need to get some wee bits and bobs, but doubt if I will get parked at the shopping centre, we will see!
    Have a good day all!

    Morning my lovelies,

Great time last night - we had a bar meal before the theatre, the amateurs were great and DH won a prize in the raffle.

I'm just back from the local shops -the cash point, the prescriptions, fresh bread and a "marzipan dainty" that they only sell this time of year. We met up with a friend in the longest established caf! for hot drinks, then found a nice nativity set in the CS for £5.

There's a 'Christmas' market going on but it just doesn't hit the spot for me - non-organic veg at organic prices, £12 - £15 / kg for cheese, a bakery stall that charges double what the permanent bakery does and lots of hand made crafts - cushion covers made from old teatowels are £9 odd. DH guided me swiftly away from the £95 rag rug. There was a brass band for a while which was lovely to hear.

Soup for lunch, then I'm bringing Christmas into the back room - paper chains, tinsel, multi coloured decorations and gaudy lights. DH will put the second coat on the loo walls.

Almost done: there's a couple of gifts to deliver, I need to do a short supermarket shop for veg etc, and then collect the Xmas sponge and fresh bread early on the 24th.

Jools - thinking of you x

Well hello there ol stylers :santa2::santa2::santa2:

Been a long while since I have popped in to say hi thanks to long work hours and not much time for any kind of old style activities but I have a couple of weeks off and have really enjoyed doing some good old cooking and cleaning (sad I know but I do intermingle with good old wine drinking and sherry sipping too :rotfl:)

So today I have made my mums christmas present which is homemade red onion marmalade, Christmas chutney (very impressed with this its gorgeous) and some honeycomb. Not sure how she will react to my HM pressies as she is used to M+S in a box but fingers crossed she will appreciate it.

Next job is to clear the bomb site that is the kitchen and pour a nice glass of "is it too early? wine"

Seems quiet in here these days hope everyone is well and looking forward to a lovely christmas :xmassign:
  • Hi all. Hoping to get back on track after seriously losing my old style way. Had the girls over last night so I'm hungover, hormonal and really down in the dumps. Having a semi duvet day.

I'm hoping to get the kitchen scrubbed up over the next couple of days, spend a bit of time on here doing some research and then get back into baking, cooking and old style generalness! For today though, it's simply feeling sorry for myself. And eating the Godiva choccies my friend brought over from Belgium ;)
  • I was going to wash the bedding today, but decided against it, the weather is foul, but the beds have been changed I will get around to the washing at my leisure.

We popped down to town to get some bits and while we were in Asda a box of wrapping paper fell on me  it had been stacked on top of another opened box which caused the stack to become unstable  now I am a hefty gal and I can take it, but what if that had been a small child?
I now have a bruised arm so I complained at the service desk, the incident was put into the accident book and they were going to check the cctv, another customer witnessed it and he and DH tried to stop it falling on me and he was really upset bless him.

Then we discovered that the car has no break lights  so DH changed the bulbs and fuse, but still no joy, we popped into our local garage and he reckons it is the sensor switch so the car is booked in for first thing Monday morning. Another expense we could do without just before Christmas:(

To top it all I went to pay the bills at the local co-op and the bloody machine froze up half way through, luckily they managed to sort it out.
I said to DH that the 21st December is not a good day for us last year we were burgled and today has been a bit traumatic to say the least, this time next year I am staying in bed.

I am off to make myself a tia maria coffe with a big dollop of squirty cream to calm my nerves. ;)
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

My hubby is exactly the same, but I'm not complaining, I love that he can turn his hand to anything.:D
Popped tot he shops for some last minute bits and bought ten new plates. Ours are old and chipped and mismatched so I'm very pleased and they were 40% off:money:
House is clean and tidy and washing up to date. I'm just in the middle of reorganising my kitchen cupboards, really struggling to get down to my baking stuff with my knee so I'm trying to make things more accessible.
Jools my thoughts are with you this Christmas. As you may remember my DIL in Australia lost her dad in March this year. As you can imagine Christmas is going to be very hard for her and her mum and my son, thank goodness they have our gorgeous baby Amelia to think about. Thoughts and prayers with anyone who finds this time of year difficult x
Well going to have leftover lasagne chips and salad for tea and then have a bash at Tom Kerridges Orange Cake which we shall have with ice Cream.
Enjoy the weekend whatever your up to J x
