BT Infinity Areas Map?

Hi all,

We will soon be house hunting and have 2 criteria - rural (ish) and good internet. An oxymoron it seems!

Rather than have to find somewhere we like then endlessly check each one's postcode in bt infinity's coverage search, is there a map anywhere that pinpoints all the areas of the UK that Infinity is DEFINITELY available? This way we can simply look for the most rural areas with infinity coverage.. simples :D
The only thing we know for sure, is that we know nothing

Even if an area is classed as enabled it doesn't mean every single property definitely will be.

As above. Any map would have to be incredibly large scale. Until 6 months ago, one end of our street had Infinity, ours did not. Different cab.
Doesn't take long to put a postcode into a checker.

There is a tool that may help - http://fttc-check.alc.im/

It is based on a leaked Openreach document of their plan at the time. If it says a particular postcode is enabled (but note the probability column - as I said not every property can be served for some reason) then it will be OK. If it says not check an up to date checker - ie start off an order with BT.

There is no quick map to look at as certain BT exchanges can be enabled for FTTC, but you also have to see if the street's local PCB cabinet is enabled for Fibre.

To check exchanges are live for BT Fibre then put the postcode here:
    http://www.superfast-openreach.co.uk/where-and-when/

To check the actual house/street is connected for FTTC then use the link below:
    http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/ADSLChecker.Address?URL=&SP_NAME=a%20service%20provider&VERSION=36&MS=E&CAP=no&AEA=Y

If no FTTC details are listed then BT Fibre is not available or in near future plans. If BT Fibre is available or upcoming then it will list the estimated speeds.

Below is a screenshot when I check my address as I'm waiting for BT Fibre to go live in my area currently.

    Hope this helps. :)

I can't work out what is going on with this fibre, I can only get the expensive FTTP, some on my road can also get that but others can't even get that. Others on our exchange can get FTTC, what is driving this availability? I think we have been abandoned , who can we ring to find out what is going on?

As pointed out above, it's driven by the cabinet enablement, not by the exchange.
The exchange might be enabled, but only 5% of the customers served by that exchange might get FTTC initially.
Availability is primarily driven by demand being at sufficient level to make it economic to do the work, but also by factors such as planning permission and utility connection for new cabs.
Many areas will never get FTTC, just as many exchanges will never be LLU'd.

How does the availability of FTTP fit into this? The thing about FTTP it costs £50 a month and only available through BT.

No its available from BT, SKY, PLUSNETt, TALKTALK and a few others.

I have FTTC with Plusnet. Estimated 69mb. Actually 73mb after it stabilised. The Openreach engineer said it was over 80mb and stable on his device. But capped by my provider.
