Question about from someone who 'doesn't understand,' phones.
I have no knowledge of phones whatsoever, but know that my Mum had got me a HTC Desire C on a 2 year contract with Vodaphone for £15 a month (no insurance.)
A year on, phone falls down the toilet. And I was wondering if I could take the SIM card out and put it in a cheap £10 Vodaphone non smart phone? Is that possible? Don't want to buy it if I can't.
Also, would anyone know how to go about in this situation getting the same number?
Thanks very much.

The number is on the sim
as long as the sim is undamaged,it will be fine0 -
Yes, you'll be fine. The sim will work in any Voda handset or any unlocked (sim free) phone.
Your number is the sim card, so by putting it in another phone you're number will just be there.0 -
All SIM manoeuvres should be fine.
Depending on how recently posh phone took its dunking, a night as disassembled as you dare in a pan of cheap dry rice may see a miraculous recovery. Just use cheap rice in case it doesn't work.0 -
If you are going to buy it, buy from CPW (or similar) - PAYG (any network) or sim-free. It won't be locked to Voda and can be used with any sim in the future.... I was wondering if I could take the SIM card out and put it in a cheap £10 Vodaphone non smart phone?
If you have some other PAYG phone on any major network, CPW do cheap PAYG upgrades.0 -
The HTC Desire C takes a mini SIM so this is likely to fit any cheap phone you buy.
The Carphone Warehouse recommendation is good. You will get an unlocked phone which you will then be able to use it as a spare in the future whatever the network you use.
I don't suppose your house insurance covers this kind of damage at home.
It may not be worth claiming due to the excess and risk of increased premium but it could be worth considering.0 -
Even if the sim is damaged, tell Voda and they'll send a replacement with the same number.0
