I need help with a retailer

Okay so recently i took my daughters Nintendo DS console to a shop to replace the power input adapter. Upon going to collect it today he informs me that the bottom screen ( the touchscreen ) is " Fuzzy "

I know for a 100% fact there was NOTHING wrong with the screen or anything else besides the charger input before i took it to the shop. So ive told him that its not right and that he must fix this. He said he will look into it, But what can i do if he refuses?

Its like he says, When i took it to him, it wasnt powered up so he doesnt know if it was already broken or not. Even though i know for a fact it wasnt and there were no other problems with it.

Do i have rights if he refuses to fix it? Who do i turn to ?

You can't prove it wasn't faulty the same way he can't prove it was.

you turn to the courts and could sue but I can't see you winning, you take a faulty console to him the balance of probabilities may well fall on his side as a reasonable person may think there was a good chance of further faults.

    It could go either way.

How did the power charger get broken? If it had been dropped it may have caused further problems.

It was broken because my 5 year old daughter kept shoving things into the charging hole where the pins are, I saw myself it was still working fine before the power eventually died and it would charge no more. I believe the screen to be " Fuzzy " Since he had opened the DS.

If the screen had already been broken, i would of asked the guy also to replace it, Infact before writing this i checked the price for the screens and they are only £2.99 on eBay, Which isnt too bad. The thing is though it isnt about the price now, I was worried it would cost a fortune but more principal. Its 4 days to christmas and my little girls DS is broken. I cant get it fixed at such short notice and she has games for christmas. Is there nothing i can threaten the guy with such as Consumer Direct or some kind of agency.

I never wanted it to come to this, I simply wanted to pay for the charging port to be replaced so she can play her games.

    All help is appreciated.

You still cannot prove that the issue didn't exist.

Please don't resort to threatening people unless you can absolutely prove they caused damage , its not very becoming.

You didn't mess it up, I assume it was asked to be fixed.

You didn't know (and its still not proven) that there were other issues.

How bad is the other issue, the touchscreen is "fuzzy"? How fuzzy?

The bottom screen of the DS is not the same as the top screen. And children look at it less as they subconsciously have eye / hand orientation which means the focus is on the playing field which is the top screen.

the bottom screen is where they touch things i think, And it isnt totally ruined he must of loosened a wire or something. But it was definately working when i took it there.

So how is not working now? Is the calibration (ie where you touch the screen with the stylus matches where the screen registers it) off? Or is it non responsive at all?
  • Its working and responsive its just all fuzzy and has lines through it,

The point is it isnt how it was when i put it in the shop
