Aldi Tablet, any good?

Did anyone buy one when they came out and are they any good?
I couldn't get one when they came out the other week. However by chance I found one in another branch today. It was the only one in store so I grabbed it. Ive not unwrapped it yet. I'd like to hear peoples opinions of it, before I decide to open it or take it back and save up for a Hudl. ( I would be paying full price for a Hudl as I don't have clubcard vouchers.)
Thank you

Hudl does have better screen, 16gb memory. Battery life on aldi says about 4 hours, hudl says about 9 hours (but more like 6 if your lucky. Other than that, not much else.
Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j

Looks like Aldi imported about 1000 to the whole of the UK to ensure queues on that Sunday morning - I have never seen a real buyer review.
The Hudl can be taken more seriously because its sold by a supermarket that actually plans to stock it.

A pity you didn't find the Lidl one that came out just before Aldi, the Aldi one is fairly mediocre, no great bargain. The Lidl was was considerably better in every way and only £10 dearer.

The Aldi one put it this way, it wasn't worth queueing for (all that was hysterical hype by those not really knowing much about tablets) but its not a rip off either so if it fits your budget then keep it, if you can stretch higher there are many other choices. Hudl as good as it is may well be impossible to find. Not in stock online and the last time I was in Tesco saw endless people asking for one to be told non in stock, maybe some time next year...

The slight redeeming factor for the Aldi one is its not short under the bonnet with 1.6GHZ quad core processor (a match for the Hudl) even if the other specifications are lower, as to be expected at only 65% the price of the Hudl.

I was Emailed by Tesco today that Hudl in blue is back in stock and a test got as far as last step of checkout. This news will be out of date by the time you read it!
  • Update.
Reading various reviews for the Aldi tab, I realised that it didn't have an HDMI port. This swung the deal for me as I want to be able to plug it into a TV. So returned to Aldi.
Was able to order a Hudl online on Christmas day. Didn't actually believe it until I got the email confirming delivery as I suspected the website was just taking orders and would update after the bank holiday, saying out of stock.

Hudls seem to go in and out of stock quite rapidly. I had to keep checking the Tesco web site until they came back in stock, then grabbed one using the click-and-collect next-day delivery.

My local Tesco Extra has a display stand for them, but I've never actually seen a Hudl on sale there.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
  • Just discovered that the HDMI port is a micro one, so now have to buy yet another lead. Hey ho.

Please don't waste your money at Tesco!!
Plenty on ebay or maybe try Poundland although they don't always have the micro version.

There must be a tremendous mark up on these things I bought a 7"
tablet at a trade show in the US for £40 and I got chatting to the Chinese couple selling them and they cost less than $10 wholesale.
I still use this cheap tablet in preference to my £300 Motorola Xoom.
