Parking Eye summons

Hi guys

I got notification in the post about a year ago that I had overstayed in a car park. I didn't get a ticket or any other form of notification apart from a letter stating that my registration number had been recorded on a ANPR camera. Following the then advice on this forum, I ignored the letter and all subsequent correspondence, which I binned (so don't have it any more!). This morning in the post I received a claim form from the County Court Bulk Centre in Nothampton for the princely sum of £165 (£100 claimed, £15 court fees, £50 solicitor fee). The "offence" was committed on 19 December 2012 so this is almost exactly a year later - ridiculous.

There are shed loads of threads on this forum relating to parking eye, and I have only read the thread titles - can't see one with the word "summons" and it would take me a week to read through them all! Any advice from someone in the know would be appreciated - or a link to a relevant thread if you know one off the top of your head. I get the feeling I'm stuffed.

Happy to scan the summons and attach it somewhere to prove that I'm not a parking eye troll :)

Thanks

Doug

they have up to 6 years to take you to court so its not surprising its a year, some are from earlier in 2012 if you read some recent threads

as for help, read the NEWBIES sticky thread at the top of the forum, also the lazydaisy ones etc like the LBA and LBCC sticky too

no idea why you would not read those sticky threads as everything you may need is within them

then check for similar court case threads using the forum search tool in the green banner, right hand side, using keywords

Thanks Redx. There's a huge amount about this online - seems Parking Eye are dishing out these summonses right, left and centre. I'll keep you guys posted on what happens :)

correct, plenty of info on here and pepipoo , but although you call it a summons I think the info you need is in those 2 sticky threads and they have links to relevant threads too

That's because this isn't a summons, and neither are any of the other claims that PE issue. A summons is for a criminal offence.

You will realise that you haven't got a summons and the reason you can't find "summons" is that nobody else has got a summons as a result of a parking "event". A summons only applys in criminal proceedings, this is a civil court claim.

Don't worry about it, we've all had to learn about these scumbag PPC through similar experiences to yourself. So read the stickies, and the threads about PPC court cases, you'll find some of the better ones in the following forum;-

  • Hi guys
I've gone online and completed the acknowledgement of service with the box "I intend to defend all of this claim" ticked. As I understand it I now have 28 days to prepare my defence. Can anyone tell me what will happen next? Will I receive a huge bundle from PE with photos and stuff and specific times etc, or does that come after I've filed my defence? Thanks :)

Don't file anything until you've received advice from experienced members, start by messaging the prankster

When you say "don't file anything" I assume it's OK to acknowledge service and state my intention to defend? - which I've already done! :)

Thanks for the link to The Prankster - sounds like it might be fun :)
