Is Giff Gaff having issues today?

I cant make or receive calls and their website is down as well.

Is it just me or are others having problems too?

  • It's the third major outage this year.

I like GiffGaff, it's cheap and by and large it works, but it can be very frustrating, we are on a Xmas night out and some of my collegues are getting very frustrated they can't reach other collegues.

    Not got enough
  • I have the problem on both my giffgaff phones & on my O2 phones so may not be giffgaffs fault .

No its Niff Naff as usual, they have admitted something is broken at their office and has knocked off everything, something to do with billing and validating you on O2 as they had to take the website down in case people tried to make transactions that would get lost.

Shocking that they had to call engineers in! surely they should have 24 hour shifts technical support onsite at a utility company?

How do you think they manage to run a cheaper service than others - they don't have so many staff and they call in service staff when required rather than have people standing around waiting for a fault.

In the end you pays your money and take your choice - a cheaper service just wont have the backup that one of the main stream operators have. As they are only service resellers they have to rely on the network operator to sort out network faults after they've occurred rather than being able to anticipate problems
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers

Do they still show the gremlin when it has one of it's frequent outages? That and the free 0800 were my favourite parts of GG

The problem with GG is that it's shoogly platform sitting on top of a crumbling network (O2)

If 3 takeover O2 next year then GG might crash less.

I think it's the fourth major outage this year and there have been several more minor problems.

Last year this time, they published a statement apologising for the previous years outages and saying they were instituting a plan to improve reliability and resilience within three months.

    How's that going for them?!!
  • Living in the sticks I can barely get a reception for giffgaff at the best of times.

Come the new year I'll be looking at a contract phone.

However - are there any contracts that have as good a deal as a 10 quid goodybag?

These two are comparable, one cheaper and one more expensive:

    Have you looked at Ovivo?
