Aww, sorry you've continued to feel grot P*M, hope you get it sorted, your day of action sounds very purposeful (although the surgery sounds a pain)!

I was going to commiserate with your long wait for your birthday by suggesting you help finish up Mr P*M's cake, but then I read that you didn't feel up for your grub ~ hope that's sorted before the cake's all gone!

Hope you had a better day today and a good rest of your week!

Just checking in - you sound quite positive, so hoping the doctors didn't get you down too much. They just add to the stress really, don't they! Wondering if it would be worth your while getting a pre-paid prescription certificate if you'll be 'experimenting' with different drugs the next few months. If you will be prescribed more than 13 medications in a year it works out as a saving. I had one before my maternity exemption (last time) and it just meant I wasn't worried about splashing out on things that wouldn't work.

    Bargain Alert!

Just rushing in to say that Waitrose have reduced all their toys to silly prices. Our branch have £20 toys down to £1.99 or 99p. Insane! Mr M's picked up some right bargains!

Thought I'd post in case it's of use to anyone! Shall return anon to catch up properly :)

  • ooooo please expand!!!
I shall do! Was planning on doing that today but I wore myself out yesterday, shall try and take some time to do the story justice tomorrow (or asap) :D

BlueMoo, I'd love to make handmade paper as well, it's been on my To Do list for ages. I've got some flower paper, but I cheated and got it from a shop :o This reminds me of a sweet little tutorial for making plantable flower paper (click here), I suppose you could just omit the seeds? Not sure what you'd use to make it more stationary like... there must be loads of other tutorials around though. Ah, I really want to make some now! :rotfl:

LGP, I've managed to stop myself buying those books so far but the thought of TCB & free delivery codes is making my pulse quicken... might sleep on it again and decide then! The thing is - I'd surely get my money's worth out of the books, but I could just get ones like them from the library at the moment... tough decision!

Habibiboo, I've had more than my fair share of cake, never fear. :rotfl:

Museumworker, ooh thanks for that sharing that info, will definitely look into it :D

  • Strangely quiet yet productive day today (avec snow! Lovely). Yesterday was full to the brim of working and sorting things out (as mentioned above, shall treat you all to my wafflings on that at some point in the future), I feel like I made some excellent progress though I'm a little tired today from processing so much.

Went to the cinema yesterday as well (finally saw The Hobbit! ...and now I really want to go back to New Zealand, which won't be happening any time soon, alas!), free(ish) with cineworld cards and free Wednesday ticket for a friend. Got a lift from said friend, so no travel costs, hurrah!

Today...found 9p lying about, so that's gone in the piggybank... piggybank is actually kittybank, might have to start calling it something along those lines as feel like I'm offending him every time.

1Poll and VO done & dusted today, along with some severe digital decluttering of mailing list subscriptions (thanks pennyforthepot for the inspiration!). I did quite well at sorting out my inbox not long ago yet how has it got back up to over 1,000 (mostly unread) emails? This is surely unnatural and wrong, must do mass delete soon.

One of the books I picked up from the library (The Winter of our Disconnect) has been a bit of an inspiration too, the author and her three children gave up gadgets/internet for six months (it didn't go down too well with them though I believe they were paid off, haha). It's quite an eye-opening and entertaining read, I wasn't really expecting it to be so cleverly written (and so funny, she has a super sharp sense of humour); she discusses lot of current research along with her own experiences, it's definitely some serious food for thought. I'd been cutting down on some internet/TV time sucks anyway over the past few months but I'm very tempted to try at least a week/ten day period of abstinence some time.

Mr M's presents have slowly arrived, one was suspiciously not what I ordered so I now have the joy of chasing that up.

Did over an hour of aerobic exercise, stunning - I haven't done much in a while, was surprised how fit I was. I shouldn't be when I've barely done anything of note lately but I'm not complaining, hopefully if I can get back into the swing of things and that'll sort me out good and proper in no time. Impetus might have been seeing the scales a little higher than usual this morning after pudding feast last night (believe it to be all made up of custard).

Have been rather domestic goddessy this evening and did a big laundry sort out... Mr M informs me it looks like a crime scene. :rotfl:

Oh gosh and yes, the Waitflower toy/gifty bargains, good grief, Mr M's come back with two playmobil sets (were around £20, down to £1.99 and 99p), also Operation (£1.99), Airfix kits (can't remember but similarly cheap) and - I thought I was a grown up - a Hello Kitty magazine making kit for me (89p, was £10). Apparently it was not just for the glitter pens, I'm supposed to put my journalism skills to the test and make him a magazine detailing my life. :rotfl:

My only thought is I might be moving soon and leaving my lovely library behind, so shall I take advantage now as might not have such great access in future? Something to ponder! :)

  • Another rather full day...

Investigated other survey sites I'm signed up to (WH Smith surveys, Quidco surveys - I can refer people if anyone would like?), nothing much happening there but have made myself a little checklist with them all so I remember to go and take a peek more often.

Need to sort out some account stuff which cropped up today, will try and do that tomorrow.

Spent a lot of today chasing various things up; mysteriously wrong present for one - the seller didn't do a convincing impression of any sort of customer service so I can see a claim going in on this one.

Another 70 mins exercising, though not quite as energetic as yesterday to be fair. :o Then spent another two and half hours walking around this evening - granted it was in the shops, but every little helps. ;)

So shops... small spend on travel, then bought some makeup remover £7ish (should last about a year if I'm lucky/careful, plus got a free cleanser sample), Mr M discovered a clever little present that'll suit my dad (£8 down to £2.40) so nabbed that and then, oh heck, I discovered the most stunning blue 50s style coat in Primarch!... if I hadn't wanted one almost exactly like this for the best part of 15 years I probably could have walked by but erm, not today. £25 but hopefully I'll get my moneys worth, it should last a fair while despite anticipated weight loss (it has a belt, I shall cinch!) and I don't have a spring/summer coat that fits so this should see me right. :D I potentially have another (ill fitting) coat I could put on the Bay of E to negate the cost, shall have a ponder.

Mr M managed to get a rather swish suit jacket (£85 down to £34) and then half price on another jacket (£49 down to £6.90!), he's a lucky one.

Completely forgot to take M&S vouchers with us, so no shopping done in the end and this was the last day for them. :( A bit gutted. And no plastic containers in £land, annoying as I could seriously do with some more for my batchcooking adventures.

Not sure what the plan is for tomorrow yet, weather is looking a little tumultuous so might wait and see what the day brings.
