Stolen Credit Card - Subscriptions?
Comments
-
You need to WRITE a god old fashioned letter headed FORMAL COMPLAINT stating that you want the fraudulent CPA cancelled, as they have previously promised to do, and all and any over limit markers removed from your credit file and all and any overlimit charges refunded. They have 8 weeks to comply. If they fail to do this you then escalate to the ombudsman.
Have you checked your credit files to see if any markers have been put on there. In the letter also ask for compensation for your time and cost of phone calls, letters and the cost of the £2 statutory credit reports from the 3 agencies due to their failure to act correctly on the reported card theft.0 -
Thanks for that, I've not checked my credit file yet but I will be doing later.
They gave me £25 compensation last month, but I can't believe this has happened again.0 -

Bit of a long shot but maybe send a letter to SKY telling them that your card has been used fraudulently to pay a subscription with them and ask that they cancel this payment - I assume that there will be some sort of reference number on your credit card statement from SKY.
Give SKY your crime reference number and demand that they stop taking fraudulent payments from your card."We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0 -

Surely the police should trace the SKY subscription address and catch the crook(s)?0 -

I tried that, but Sky need an account number - and all that shows on my Barclaycard statement is the telephone number for Sky
Barclaycard haven't updated my credit record yet for December, so I'll be keeping an eye on that to ensure they don't report anything bad against me.
So frustrating, this is my only credit card left and I've been working so hard to sort out my poor credit rating!0 -

You'd think so wouldn't you - I don't even understand how Sky can take the money out for an account which clearly must be at a different address to my cardholder address.
The police aren't interested because its small amounts, and seemingly neither are Barclaycard.0 -

Have you phoned the police and let them know about the Sky subscription?0 -

This is why when I hear/read that crime is falling I don't believe it - t's more likely due to people losing faith in the police and not bothering to report things anymore

The costs of investigation by both the police and Sky probably far outweigh the losses. If the address is next to a pie shop / bakery the police might find time to drop in whilst passing

The police ceased to be interested in this type of fraud when the banks confirmed they would take on all investigations themselves. It is the banks who will inform the police if it is in their interest to do so, but not otherwise.0
