Things are looking up with the treatments! I hope you have a good job coming in for your OH to take him through to February but good idea to keep anything "spare" back until then.

I think my impulse buys beat yours steph as I booked a holiday.. oops......
Well done on building the builders buffer, my OH builds too and it can be a little worrying over the festive season if they aren't in the middle of a job when we hit christmas.. but we'll all cope i'm sure.. Not long now till your trip, I hope you have a really nice break and get some warmth, sunshine and relaxing in good company.
Take care.

Haha Puzzcat. I must pop over to your diary and see where you are off on your holiday :T
Yes we usually get through one way or another, its nice that being organise and actively budgeting shows up that you may have a potential problem coming up and its nice to at least attempt to solve the problem before it happens.

When is your Portugal trip?
Thanks Verbatim.
it seems the Spa has peaks and troughs, and I can't be certain if I will have five treatments one week and then nothing for another week.
Hey ho, I will just enjoy it as and when it comes. Still looking for inexpensive ways to advertise to hopefully build up abit of a client base.
The Portugal trip is next Thursday :j, suitcase is out and I am starting to get abit excited. In total the flight, car hire and transport to and back from the airport has cost £143 and the apartment is free.
We are taking £200 in Euro's , which is £50 per day to cover meals etc, I am hopeful that I might bring abit of money back but I am definitely not spending anymore than that.

Hubby had abit of bad news this evening. A two week job that we have quoted for, customer agreed and booked us in, which we had scheduled to start in the next week or so has just cancelled :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Their only excuse was they just want to postpone it until next Spring.
So annoying, just as we were feeling like he was pretty much sorted for work until Christmas then this goes and happens.
I guess these little hurdles are just part of life and I am trying to be calm about it and hopeful that something else will come up to fill its place.
Poor hubby was very stressed. I think he is feeling the full weight of responsibility of being the main wage earner. I feel abit guilty about Portugal now, but the flight is all paid for and the money is all set aside from my Spa wage..
Oh well, I will stop moaning. Nighty night all xx0 -
Hi Steph, just wanted the opportunity to wish you a very happy holiday in Portugal. You deserve it you have worked so hard this year. Buffer accounts are so useful - I have a couple myself, can raid them when needed & rebuild slowly. I also save small change including all my $2 (Aus) coins & when they mount up take them to the bank coin machine. Little by little this year I have managed to acquire a reasonable sum for Xmas into another account (!) My husband thinks I am slightly obsessive, he may well be right but when it comes to hoarding nuts I can beat any squirrel any day! Hope your meal planning goes ok, that's my downfall but am trying to do better. Will be having a more expensive Xmas this year as my daughter & son in law will be with us for 4 weeks. They live in Norfolk, so looking forward to Xmas immensely. All the best bl10

Oh booger:eek:, sending positive thoughts in your direction for more work for OH. As you say, the Portugal money is set aside and a break will set you up for the slog of getting through this. I do hope that OH will be able to pick up some replacement work asap:)
Try not to despair, keep a very tight check on your food and other budgets and I have every confidence that you will get through this, it may end up with you being a little over your target dates, but if so it is a setback not a major fail.
Might not have any internet for a week or so and used up all my phone data allowance, so take care and I will be cheering you on:A

P.S. Should be asleep but woke with a sore throat and something niggling me that was not on list which would have been a right pain if I forgot. Tea drunk, will try again to sleep:(
PPS have a think about setting yourself a new target for debt clearance and continuing to put aside more money into buffer (when you have got through immediate problem), it would take a lot of pressure off you both. (I remember well my OH having to stick at his job when most unhappy for a long period, because he was the main wage earner)The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time.
