Thank you bess, I guess I am abit of a worrier, think I vent all my fears on here, as there isn't really anybody willing to listen in real life.
Hubby is a head in the sand, stiff upper lip kinda guy who just soldiers one, whereas I'm the one that likes to talk it through and churn it over. Abit of an odd mix really.
My mum used to be my sounding board and would patiently listen to me vocally working through my problems, she isn't able to listen anymore because she is in a residential home, so it looks like its you guys who have taken over the less than enviable role
.
I do sometimes feel like I have lost my optimistic spirit that I always thought I had, maybe I need to download an app on Positive Thinking
.
I WILL be happy once the debt has gone and I start saving up the emergency fund. We will be in a lot better situation to roll with the punches then.
Until then I will try to calm down the crazy a little
xx 0 -
No need to calm the crazy for us - just for you!
Even if you do have a backwards step, just think where you would have been if you hadn't made all the progress you already had? Imagine you were still £20k+ in debt, or even worse, and that's before you'd even got to the potential income gap.
But you aren't, you are way way further forwards than that. And you are worrying about a Christmas drop off on the 7th October. Would you have done that last year? I bet not!
That's what I keep reminding myself. Being aware that there might be a problem is a huge part of managing this journey. The solutions aren't always right in front of you but knowing you need a solution is the first step

Oh that's ok then if it's just your way of thinking:) I almost suspected you were building up a big head of steam so you could fall of the wagon in time for Xmas and whip those catalogues out:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0

Hi Steph...typed a post a few days ago and lost it ... typical !! Just a quick note to say you have achieved so much ... and well done on having the money for the oil. You are remaining steady and sure on the path to debt freedom. We are hear to listen at any time. I love to read your diary and can picture your life as I do. You will not know yourself when this is all gone and gone it will be soon...look at your signature !!! Keep going x
I have had a rough few weeks to be honest found out a member of family in horrendous debt..due to blood I have taken on some of these debts totalling about 3 K...these things have to be done ...transferred onto my credit cards 0% until 2016. Paying more than the minimum at the minute but come January I will start playing it very very frugal to clear this mess. Due to all this worry I am feeling quite low and exhausted but I will get back up again. These things come to try us. God bless and keep positive.0 -

You are right mfmaybe. I guess I am being more proactive nowadays than my old reactive self.
Feels good.

Thanks for such a lovely reply sweetpea.
So sorry to hear of a family members struggles, and Wow to you for taking on 3k of it. You are a nicer person than me. The thought of taking on any more debt would kill me.
I am sure you will have the debt killed off pretty quick and it must have been such a wonderful thing to do for a family member. I don't think I could cope with not promising to pay you back at some point, but you must have helped take the worry away quite abit.:T
Take care xxx0 -
Afternoon all,
Been a busy day full of nothing productive so far
.
Went into town this morning to catch up with an old friend. Cheapy cup of coffee in a cafe, but got lured by a sale in New Look and ended up spending £35 on a pair of jeggings, a lovely maroon jumper and a pair of sandals . That's why I am glad I don't go into town very often, I can't control myself.
All very practical stuff. The jeggings (£14.99) are black so good for everyday wear, I have a nice maroon jumper (£14.99) as extremely short on warm clothes, and a pair of black strappy flat sandals for £5. I know its nearly winter but I needed them for my Portugal weekend and then they will be great for next summer.
I shouldn't have bought ANYTHING!!, but at least my impulse buy is fairly sensible and very needed.
I have found out a small suitcase for next week, small enough to go in the cabin. Going to have to pack very sensibly to get everything I need in there. I have bigger handbags than that suitcase .
Not a lot else to report. Not going to spend anymore money I promise.
Just been booked in for two massage's tomorrow morning so the Spa will now owe me £95 which is good news.
Off to read some other diaries, xxxx0 -
I am the same Steph...I can't be trusted to go into town at all. Went for lunch on Saturday and spend £80 that I really couldn't afford and am cross at myself now. At least you have a few treatments to lessen the impact 😄Credit card £4461.15Home mortgage £137117Buy to let mortgage £83,0000

Afternoon all
Glad to hear I am not the only one with bad impulse control (wantabetterlife
).
Just back from doing two treatments. Phew two together are really tiring. Feel like having a lie down myself now.
Spa currently owes me £95 and I have two more booked in tomorrow, which will make it up to £165 :T.
I am £80 short of what I need to take to Portugal, so will ask the boss if I can get paid asap after tomorrow, although he did say there would probably be more treatments over the weekend
.
I will put the £80 in my holiday fund and the rest over into my Bank Buffer account which can sit there until next February when if hubby's work is still ok then I will pay it over to the debts.
Not a lot else to report, might go and have a sneaky lie down for 10 minutes just ot recharge my batteries xxx0 -
I think my impulse buys beat yours steph as I booked a holiday.. oops......
Well done on building the builders buffer, my OH builds too and it can be a little worrying over the festive season if they aren't in the middle of a job when we hit christmas.. but we'll all cope i'm sure.. Not long now till your trip, I hope you have a really nice break and get some warmth, sunshine and relaxing in good company.
Take care.
