There is another thread about how unlucky folks have been this year, so this is another how many comps do you enter a day thread :mad:

I read that folks are doing "dozens" of comps a day, is that 2 dozen (24) or 3 dozen (36) or 4 dozen (48) ect. I realistically don't think that is entering enough comps to get a win weekly/monthly considering how many folks enter each of these comps :eek:

I aim for 200 comps per day (now I understand I probably have more spare time than most) and for the last 6 weeks I have had at least one win every week, they have not been big wins but they have been a bit of something and a couple of £50+ prizes

So as it says on the tin above am I having a lucky streak or is 200 comps a day a realistic figure to expect a win or two a month?

I would love to know how many comps a day the big guys and gals, (I won't call you professional compers :eek: ) (the ones we read about daily, the ones who post the comps, the ones who have 1000s of likes, the ones who win a prize most weeks) enter per day or just a educated guess

Usually when this question comes up the big names don't answer, but surely a "few dozen" comps a day is not going to bring much of a return.

I think of comping as everything else in life the more you put into it the more you will get out of it :T....says she who hasn't entered a comp for almost 48 hours now, I blame this Christmas thing that is coming :eek:

I don't know if you class me as a 'big name' as I don't put my wins in my siggy any more and rarely post in IWIWIW. However, I enter every competition I can find that is all of the ones here and others. Often hundreds a day. I am very very lucky indeed with wins and think the more effort you put in, the more you get out (although it is all luck).

I try to do 2-300 a day & usually have a couple of wins a week - I've been thinking December has been bad because I've only won 5 times so far but my smallest win has been the wolverine box set.

My usual win tally for a month is between 10 & 20 so I think you're on track

I have no idea how many comps I enter but some days it will be hundreds if you count Mag dailies etc. I try only to enter for things my family or I would really like and I do usually have quite a few prizes to report at the end of the month. Do tend to have lucky and unlucky spells though. For example I had tried to win a tablet for 3 years and won 2 Hudls in one day from different comps!
Some peeps seem to be far luckier than others I have noticed but that is life. (Think I am in the middle somewhere)
Good Luck and have fun with your hobby anyway. I spend a lot of time chatting while comping on here and Twitter and FB but I love that part as much as winning.

I do sometimes think, when I see post saying "three wins today" in IWIWIW - "hellfire, why do I never win" ("never" being a relative term, as you can see from my sig, that I do win - but nothing for six months ) but then I realise that I actually only enter a very small number of the comps that are posted here, as I only enter for things that I really would like to win. DVDs, make up, baby stuff etc, I swerve, as they don't interest me.

So I think you will get out what you put in with comps. I have no doubt if I did enter hundreds a day, I would see my win rate rise.

I don't really count how many I enter, but I could roughly estimate at doing 200+ mag dailies per day, and that's without taking into account the main board or, currently, advents. In a usual non-advent day, I'd probably do about 80 to 100 from the main board as well as the dailies. I've had months where I've only won a book, months like this one where I've won about 10 (so far) small-ish prizes, other months where I've had 2 great wins of an iPad mini and £250 vouchers in the space of 2 days, it's just all down to the luck of the draw. I do believe that the more you enter the more you'll win, so the people who ONLY enter for big cash prizes and nothing else, aren't so likely to see a win. I put myself somewhere in the middle. I'm not averse to entering for a DVD I or my kids might want, or some makeup, but then again I don't enter every single competition - I don't know anyone who would have use for a horse blanket for example, or baby toys, so I don't bother with anything like that. Often, the people who are reporting 3 or 5 wins in one day, are the ones who enter literally hundreds and hundreds a day. It does come down to, you get out what you put in.

For every comp entered, the chances of winning are slim. However, every comp entered slightly increases the odds in our favour.

Think of it like this, toss a coin and the odds of it landing on heads is 50/50. Toss 20 coins and the likelihood of at least one of them landing on heads increases probably to something like 99.9%

Although, the reason I first got into comps was because someone I knew won a car with Take a Break magazine. She is not a comper as we would think of it. She just did/does TAB every week - but she still won a car.

I think you're spot on I enter maybe five to twenty a day and if I have time i'll enter them all, if I enter them all for say three days on trot I win something, if I go for a few weeks at 30 a day I might win one a month or less. I have three year old twins and university plus work so very little time at moment to do comps but I like doing it for fun.

I don't know if I am incredibly lucky or what but I only enter around 30 - 40 comps a day, never do the dailies and only do comps I am interested in but since June, (when I started) I have won at least 1 thing a month..on average it's more like 3 - 4 things.

Don;t know if I am an exception to the rule and I don't want to jinx myself (touching wood) but that's just my experience.. I think it all depends on how lucky you are

Anything I win though is a bonus, It's just a hobby for me, sometimes I get a barren spell but what will be will be at the end of the day
