Wont the frost kill it this time of year?
Wet and frost will soon kill it off. Not sure where you are but we have had some frosty nights around here in the Midlands.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Thanks for your replies, I have been doing research into when to lay turf and this infact is a good time, better than a dry spring as the turf is tough, it won't be trampled on and it won't dry out, turf can be laid all year round but garden centres don't tend to stock it as demand isn't there so it dies before being sold. So I went to our garden centre today and they are grouping small orders of turf together and making an order as soon as they have enough for a pallet load, which should be this weekend.
They also agreed that it's fine to lay now as long as your not under snow and here down south, it's just wet and windy! She said the turf is lifted fresh throughout the whole year and then delivered to them,
I hope this helps others looking to get gardening in this wet winter weather!:rotfl: I must be mad lol x

Totally agree, at our golf course , mowing is done 365 days a year , weather permitting. And it was only last week that Turfs were laid to repair a bunker.0

Frost won't kill it. full stop.
But, yes you can lay turf anytime of the year, but autumn to spring is the best chance of survival.
However garden centres now have to cater for summer only (would be) gardeners, so turf is only readily available from march to october;);)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

You know chap us 'up north have had the extremes of weather for as long as I can remember, I take some deep rooted smugness from the fact that it has now been shared out for a year or too:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
