But there wer several reports of other issues with iii following the fee increase, issues of exit charges and also of people receiving random or sometimes regular charges many months later.

I've got a move to plan an iii do appear cheap as my isa and unwrapped funds are low six figures so a single fee works better than percentage. I'll definitely be looking at iWeb as well, but am waiting for the new tax year as I'm paying cgt this year and I'm concerned about my unwrapped investments having to be sold dependent on teh particular platform offerings.

    Anyone using these people?
Their website is stellar but how's their admin?
Interesting that the "Direct" website is nowhere near as comprehensive as the "Trustnet" site but infinitely prettier! OK so my attention is easily turned when I see a pretty ankle. ;)

I used it for a while, but found it disappointing as the features didn't live up to the Trustnet virtual portfolio ones. I seem to recall (as with TN) that the server sometimes took an age to respond and that the pretty interface could actually be a bit hard to navigate. Anyway, having tried it out with an 'experimental' mini portfolio, I threw in the towel and decided to stick with Share Centre, for whom I now sound like an advert. :-)

If anyone sets up a TN-Direct account, would you mind having a quick look around for my towel please?

You do! But, if it works for you, that's very good information for us.

In the interests of balance, I should point out that TN-D's customer service was first class.

They rang me after I had opened the account to thank and welcome me - how refreshing is that?! - and to make sure any queries I might have were addressed. When I closed the account, I was called again to find out the reasons, but with no pressure applied at all. They seemed very good to deal with (no punintended).

Yes, as I posted on another thread, it's Interactive Investor with a prettier front door. When I joined I knew they used iii's systems but assumed TrustNet did the administration but no, it's 100% iii. I am paying £200 a year more than I would for going to iii direct and feel like a mug. It's still significantly cheaper for me than HL but I'm stuck in same transfer nightmare as many others. I thought I was being smart paying extra to avoid iii's administration but half the time when they answer the phone they forget to say they are Trustnet Direct and say they are Interactive Investor; it's literally identical to iii.

Thanks coyrls. That's the best piece of information you could have given me.
You'd think at my time of life I'd remember that a pretty ankle does not always lead to happiness.
So the search for someone cheaper than H-L but better (much better) than III goes on.

III did the same for me ... but now knowing, or being reminded, that TND are III in drag it's not surprising that the same process is followed. And, also in fairness, III customer service telephone staff are absolutely charming, nothing is too much trouble and they really want me to "enjoy the rest of my day"! The only real problem is what they say and what they do ARE TWO ENTIRELY DIFFERENT THINGS!
