The Banking Code requires institutions to act fairly and reasonably in all their dealings with customers. ICICI doesn't subscribe to the Code. This may explain the poor service.rcotterill wrote: »Just to add my 2p worth: I've also been asked for the certified copy: they asked for one certified by another bank (among others), which I thought was cheeky, but gave it a go: both HSBC and Halifax refused point blank to do another bank's work for it.
The discussion about the cost of certification is besides the point. This is about good customer service, and putting processes in place so that the account opening process goes smoothly and the bank can get its mitts on your money as quickly as possible, leaving you witha warm fuzzy feeling aabout them (Both Egg and First DIrect do this very well).0 -
The service I've had from ICICI has been nothing but exemplary !
When I opened the account 18 months ago I just sent an original bank statement and original utility bill. It wasn't certified, but that might possibly be a new requirement.
Quite why the OP has a problem sending through the mail I don't know. How did you get the statement in the first place ?0 -

What statement?
I do not see why I should have to send valuable documents through the lottery that is Royal Mail or pay a fee to have some one sign their name, most other financial institutions do not require this and can open accs electronically, ( like I have just done with Sainsburys, on line and opened within 10 days), so ICICI can get lost, the Sainsburys rate is not much less than ICICIs and it is now openedDon`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
I think you'll find ICICI's requirements are a lot stricter now. When I opened the account 18 months ago I just sent an original bank statement and original utility bill. It wasn't certified, but that might possibly be a new requirement.

ICICI need to lighten up on their security checks! After weeks of trying to satisfy them of my identity, I have gone with a rival savings account.0

Better than my experience then. Missing interest, missing/delayed payments, messages ignored/not addressed...The service I've had from ICICI has been nothing but exemplary !
Took them 2 months to close the account upon asking, and they are *still* sending me mails etc. as if I was still with them.Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0
