Does the CPU kit come with thermal grease?
Try reading the thread, it's mentioned at least twice. That's pretty nuts, what cases were they?
Couldn't say for definite as a group of us at work build PCs for ourselves and other people and we've all had the odd case with no screws. As you say, having a good set of spares is ideal, and I just wanted to make sure the OP didn't come to a grinding halt for the sake of something so small.0 -

Ah sounds like probably packing errors rather than intent
It is as you say worth making sure the case does come with them before proceeding with any assembly,
Normally the first thing I do when building a new machine is to get the motherboard stand off's installed in the case, then fit the PSU, followed by unpacking the motherboard onto a nice anti-static matt (and fitting the cpu/cooler with the motherboard out of the case - a legacy of using cheap cases, and the Socket A chips and coolers from hell*), as that tends to make it easier to do everything.
*I dreaded working on them, especially the cheaper coolers with only one lug clips (the number of people I know who managed to chip the chip, break the lugs/have the lugs break during use, or have the screwdriver slip when exerting the 500lb of force needed to get that clip over the lug.

I'd suggest buy a lower wattage PSU (750W is far greater than what you need) and with the money you save buy a better CPU cooler.0

I'd agree with thatmto a degree, but the bigger PSU will give more flexibility to add case fans, more drives etc in the future.0

Well, my son went ahead and ordered his parts from Ebuyer.
They arrived today.
At the last minute he changed his mind about the RAM and
processor unfortunately the CPU doesn't fit the motherboard!!
I am so mad with him - always in a hurry - always knows best - and refuses to take advice from me (not that I know much except that thorough checking and re checking is often the quickest way)
Unfortunately he didn't discover his mistake until he had opened the CPU and slipped the motherboard out of the protective wrapper.
Would someone be kind enough to look at his 'new' list to see if there are any other glaring mistakes.
I guess that we wont be allowed to return either the motherboard or the CPU
He bought

He may be able to return the motherboard under the DSA, as long as he's only taken the motherboard out of it's wrapper and not done anything else with it.
If he bought all the parts from the same place (or at least the motherboard/cpu) did he talk to a member of staff when choosing the motherboard to go with the CPU and did they advise him at all?0 -

No he didn't talk to anyone, unfortunately, otherwise they might have noticed the mistake.
All the parts except the monitor were bought, at the same time, from Ebuyer - no advice asked for though.
He will have to phone them on Friday to see what can be done.
thanks for the reply
