Is someone able to advise please? I'm a not very teccie minded.
Just got a new PC & can't get MS Outlook 2010 to work. When I try to open it, I get the following message (user details removed) "the connection to Micosoft exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action"
Then it defaults to
"C:\Users\xxxxxxxx\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\xxxxxxxxxxxx.os is not an Outlook data file (.ost)
Any ideas?
Also is there a way to move iTunes library from old to new PC?
Any advice would be appreciated

Outlook has been set up to look for an Exchange server for email. That is usually used by businesses. You will have to delete that account and create a new one adding the correct details for your email provider.0

Is this a copy of Office 2010 that was previously installed on your old PC? or one purchased with the new PC and preloaded? No free lunch, and no free laptop

iTunes is easy anyway. Find the iTunes folder on the old computer. Inside the Music or My Music folder unless you've moved it. Copy the entire iTunes folder onto a backup drive - it might be big and might take a while!
Connect the backup drive to the new computer, and copy the iTunes folder into the music folder, as above. When you run iTunes for the first time, it'll look in there, find the Library, might take a while to sort itself out, and your library will be completely intact, even as far as play counts!0 -
Hi Thanks for the replies
1 I would like to delete the account but I can't get into it. I uninstalled/reinstalled 2010 but still had the problem. BTW I received a test message via Windows 8 which I can view via Yahoo
2. MS 2010 was an exe file on my old machine, but I never ran it before
3. I'll try that on iTunes. Thanks very much0 -
I've found Outlook to be troublesome on Windows 8; the search feature doesn't work.0

You need to reinstall office from the original discs. You can't just copy installed files around computers.0

I haven't "copied files around computers" It was a download from MS that I never used. I can't open it to delete myself as it won't get on line or open.
I can uninstall/reinstall again. Is there anyway to completely remove & start with a new slate?0 -
Within the control panel, you should have a 'Mail' icon. You can add/delete any accounts there0
