But we'll have trams! (Interchange at Gogar from the fife circle might be an option).

In all fairness, you've supposed to have been having trams for what now, 5 years? :rotfl:

    What the "Buckfast Triangle"? :rotfl:

As for Chapelhall, I wouldn't......... really. I know a few people from there and all they say is "Thanks god I escaped!"

    Have you ever lived there?

I live there and have done all my life. Really nothing wrong with it at all, like I said there are good and bad places like everywhere else.

According to the great google, the two airports are about an hour apart in good traffic.

Is there such a thing as 'good traffic' on the M8? Hmmm.

    Hi Everyone, Dya here.
I live in Ireland at the moment and i just got hired by an English Airline which this means i will have to move in England in around march/april.

I will have to be located aprox 30mins from Glasgow Airport and Edinburgh Airport. Myself and my partner want to move in a small village and that is close to the city centres too.
I am not familiar with Glasgow nor Edinburgh.

We are looking for a cheap apartment/flat/house for our first few months there, im just out of college and quite tough with the financial part right now in a place ive never been before.

I would appreciate if anyone could give me some advices where i could settle, i want a quiet, friendly environment with good facilities too. a town or village would be ideal.

    Many thanks.

The trouble with Glasgow Airport is it's on the wrong side of the city.....you have to drive through it to get there (although it is on the M8), so I imagine morning and evenings will be pretty awful.

Edinburgh airport is the on the right of the city for living somewhere between the two.

OH was based at Edinburgh for a number of years and we lived near Livingston, 15 miles from the airport and it took around 25 to 35 mins and a friend who was based at Glasgow lived in Weymss Bay (west of the city) - around 25ish miles about 40 to 50 mins.

If you need to be within striking distance of both airports you won't be near either city centre.....

I would visit the and have a look around some of the areas and have a drive between the 2 airports.

My suggestion would be to choose somewhere that is close to one of the intermediate stations on the fast Glasgow - Edinburgh line, so that if you do need to get a train to work it's an easy option, and you can use it for travelling to the city centres for social purposes. Falkirk and Croy stations fit the bill, Falkirk if you want to be closer to Edinburgh, Croy (Cumbernauld) for Glasgow. Either has reasonable car access via the M9 and/or M80/M8. Another alternative that's more equidistant but a bit further away would be Stirling (or if you could afford it, Dunblane).

I think its going to be problematic finding somewhere 30 mins from both Glasgow and Edinburgh Airports. Dont know how far Shotts is from both, might be a possibility, but the intercity trains dont stop there.

Glasgow Airport is nearer Paisley than it is Glasgow.
