    Didn't know that about PlusNet.

We're not actually too far from the exchange as it goes - and BT quality is excellent, it's just neighbours that have used other providers have had issues.

We've attempted having the dish up on a pole from the roof as a neighbour of ours had a similar set up (not out of neccessity, more as a personal interest thing) and attempted it with ours, but the TV signal was still very weak, which is the strangest thing when we live in a semi and the houses either side can get it!)

But back on point, BT are meant to be calling me back today, so I'll probably hear from them in January!

All you need is a line of sight, so ask a proper satellite engineer to investigate-not a Sky installer who has about an hour scheduled for each job, including travel.
It's not a 'weak signal', it's because something is obstructing the line of sight-most commonly a tree. If it's yours, pruning it will give you a line of sight. The obstruction should be quite obvious if you follow the direction from the neighbouring dishes.
Distance to the exchange does not mean measured 'as the crow flies': the cabling can go miles round.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I know somebody living on the north side of a hill, so line of sight to Astra 28.2E is impossible. He also has problems getting terrestrial signal. Nice area, though.
