I do like to make it special and personal as her birthday gets lost amongst Christmas otherwise. I'm pleased with the choices and lots of the ideas mentioned here we either treasure already or will be useful for relatives if they need ideas for her.x0

Cant go wrong with a Pandora bracelet IMO. I got one for my niece for her Christening present this year, hopefully will turn out to be a lovely keepsake and full of memories when she is older

Im sure your daughter will love the animal adoption too though!Slimming World Member - Started 05/02/150 -
Really, no child wants a jumper for their birthday. At least not as the only present.
yep i'm afraid this is true - just had this conversation recently with DD (12) and niece (13). Its okay as part of a pressie, but clothing on its own as a pressie is not cool - its just clothes, to kids. When they're older (ie in another year or so for me) and more into labels, they may appreciate clothing more (but get more difficult to buy for).0 -
If she likes reading and books maybe go for some Rudyard Kipling books. For instance the Just So Stories. My daughter loved them when she was young.

Even then, no self-respecting teenager would want clothes chosen by their frumpy mum. Perhaps some vouchers, or a shopping trip where *they* get to choose.balletshoes wrote: »yep i'm afraid this is true - just had this conversation recently with DD (12) and niece (13). As a kid I remember older relatives buying me things like lacy handkerchiefs, or floral writing sets - why???? At that age I just wanted some nice toys, or possibly some sweets.
My brother and his wife often buy my kids clothes for Christmas and birthdays - it'll be nice stuff from places like Next, but it's hard for them to get overly excited about it.0
