Craft, vintage or children's stuff does well on Facebook, if you hit the right groups. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

Neither is Taobao.
If Alibaba launch a European version of their auction website - the one that caused ebay to give up in China, ebay could be in real trouble here.

My local Facebook group doesn't seem particularly good for vintage stuff, though things like modern electronics and furniture sell well on it. Most FB and Gumtree customers are looking for local items they can easily collect in person, so if you live in the middle of nowhere they might not be worthwhile for lower end items.
I sell mostly vintage stuff and mostly on eBay, not because it's my preferred market but simply because it's often the only one where my stuff sells well enough.
ASOS Marketplace looks okay for selling vintage stuff, but I've only ever browsed, not bought or sold yet.
Other ideaif you are thinking about setting up your own website would be to include a business card showing the web address in every eBay package you ship, your repeat customers may then shop direct rather than eBay.0
