Hi,
My mum canceled sky a few months ago. Then sky phoned out of the blue and asked her if wanted sky sports for free for a year.
She told them "ok" and they put the sport channels back on.
Two months later she checked her bank account to find that sky had taken £116 from her account without telling her.
She phoned them up about it and they told her that was the rest of the channels.
Mum contacted her local bank, and they took the £116 back from sky. She never signed a contract with sky.
She have been sending her letters telling her that she has to pay the £116 back.
Today she got a phone call from a Westcot Credit service limited wanting to comfirm our address. They told her that they are going to send collectors around to get the £116.
We have received no letters from Westcot Credit Services.
What can we do? pls help

Even to get 'free' Sky Sports, you have to be buying the basic Sky Entertainment channels, which are about £26 per month, which I am sure was explained to your Mother.
Say what you like about Sky (and they're not my favourite company by a long chalk) but they are not the type of company who will try and pull a fast one like not telling her that. Did you not notice that you were again receiving all the entertainment channels as well as the free Sky Sports?"There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

You'll have to pay the £116. Your Mum agreed a verbal contract with Sky and there really is little point in saying you were offered Free Sports because it's not the Sport you have been billed for. Sky Sport is not available alone and (being ex-Sky customers) you must have known this.
If you don't pay the collectors you'll be taken to court.0 -
Ok so a communication error has occurred in what / was Not agreed to
First and most importantly
DO NOT talk tow escort on phone, always write to them and send recorded delivery.
offer SKY half the amount in FULL and FINAL settlement and see what happens
If they turn up at your door.....close the door and DO NOT speak to them0 -
Just for the record, you don't need to 'sign' a contract with Sky. Receiving their service means you've agreed to the packages you're getting.
Best thing to do is pay what is owed and make sure it is fully understood what it is you're getting. People often get blinded by the word "free" and completely miss the attached conditions which allow you to get this "free" stuff. Nothing is free.0 -
Hi,
Thanks for the all the replies.
Got the issue sorted out with sky.
Would still like to complain about the man that phoned @8.00am telling us WE had to pay.
We told the local trading stadards about the phone call.0 -
Sorry I'm still really wound up about this. It seem that sky refunded a twice. Then wanted the money back.0
