I have read somewhere recently about using a non branded 3 phone with 3s network but can't recall/find where:confused:

Daughters got a 3g W850i unlocked on O2 and want's to use it with the 3 network if she takes a contract out. Have spoken to a 3 advisor who says you can and use the Planet 3, MSN etc, but obviously these won't be on her W850i so can you use them anyway without having the 3 branding on the phone, have I been told correctly?
Thanks

you can debrand the phone using a guide i posted on here a while back.

you will need to get the wap settings from here.

can you use any other unbranded/unlocked 2G phone with a 3Mobile?

It works with my 3g-O2 sim - I use my unlocked 6610i and works fine, I just want to make sure if I get a 3Mobile contract that I can just shove the sim into my old phone and it'll work fine?

i said in the thread you posted a couple of weeks ago that they would stop you from using 2g phones with their network when they find you using one

Alot of people ask this question. I think it's time it was settled:

ANY phone thats states it's 3G compatible WILL accept a 3 simcard (if it's unlocked). It doesn't matter where the phone came 3G compatible will work with 3 simcards, period.

HOWEVER you must ensure you stay in 3G mode, if you lock your phone into GSM mode 3 will get suspicious and will probably warn you or disconnect you.

In a sentence 3G = video calls, high speed internet on your phone etc.

GSM = voice calls, text, mms, GPRS.

Hi again, I just called them up - they say it would be no problem for me to do that (if the sim works in my old phone) - they don't have a problem with it and 'once you get the phone and sim, you can do whatever you want with it'...I got the girl's name and extension too....but if my old Nokia6610i can handle my curent O2-3G sim, then I am hoping it will have no problem handling the 3Mobile-3G sim too (if not then I have my old 3Mobile handset which the girl said would definately work)

For anyone that's interested I'm inching towards a new deal from 3Mobile (transferred from O2), involving:

    750 anytime mins, 150 txts - £17.50 for 18 months
    +
upto 3000 International mins - £15 per month
    =
    £32.50 for 750+3000(int) mins
and a crappy free phone (which I am not fussed about, don't really want it anyways)

    am currently on O2, paying £35p/month for 1000anytime mins + 150txts
(was handy for the international calling thing)

NO it will not. my Nokia 1600 can handle my 3G O2 simcard no problem but not my Three simcard.

Reason is the 3 simcard is a different hardware to other three simcards.
