Washing machine help!

Comments

  • I have a 9 year old Miele combined washer/dryer and it has been the most reliable machine I have ever had. It does about 6 loads a week, and its fast cycle (40 degrees) takes 15 minutes. The drum size is about average I think.

When it dies I'm getting another Miele. They may cost a fortune but they last and I have nightmares about the planet filling up with old, rusty, appliances. A washing machine isn't something I want to be replacing every 5 years!

Fair enough - we are in a flat, and I couldn't stand all the washing in here, hanging about.

But the washing machine is excellent.

    Lin :)

I bought it for my son's eczema. It can do 2 extra rinses and steam them too.

I would like a dryer in the house but my OH refuses to have one inside, and I won't use one outside, so we're stuck where we are lol

    About your machine
What model/drum size do you have?
How long is a 40 degree wash cycle?
    Would you recommend it?
Well not that I am anal enough to go routing through my paperwork but I did have a letter today saying my 12 month warrantee was due to expire and did I want to pay an extra £62 to renew it? Yeah the letter went straight in the bin.

Anyway my washer is an Indesit IWE91481. A+ energy rating.

Drum size is 9kg though I can only fit 6kg in my tumble dryer so I don't use the 9kg to its full capacity (and I don't line dry very often).

Spin is variable up to 1400 RPM.

A 40 degree standard wash takes 1 hour 35 minutes (unless I select the economy time button which brings the time down to 1 hour 11 minutes.

Would I recommend it? Well I don't see why not. Ive not had any trouble with it in the 12 months ive had it and my previous Indesit only prematurely went to the Great Washer Heaven in the sky because one of my bra wires went straight through the drum.... Hubby was not amused.:(

I have a Miele washer/dryer too and I love it! I would also replace with a Miele if this one packs in.

I have a 17 year old Zanussi with a load sensor (so no half load option, it only uses enough water to wash whatever's in it) and their jet system, which showers the clothes with the washing solution to get them extra clean. The only downside of it is that it does leave the clothes more creased than normal, but a night folded up properly in the laundry basket sorts that problem. When this one dies (and let's face it, it doesn't owe me anything), I'll be getting another if I can afford it.
Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

Another Miele vote here, but I understand they are expensive so perhaps not right for you this time. However, I went through loads of machines over the years. I wish I'd got the Miele earlier on as soon as I could afford it rather than waiting, I've had it 6 years now and its never given me a day of trouble. Most of my other machines lasted 2 years before they gave up.
