Vodafone service charge

Hi all
last months Vodafone bills was extremely high by all accounts, as I pay for both me and my partners phone bill. What I did not expect however was for her bill to be as large as it was. When I went online and broke the bill down, I noticed it kept saying 'service charge'. When I asked her about this, she said she kept deleting the texts she got as she thought it was spam.
She didn't however text 'stop', so she therefore kept receiving them.
I went into the shop, and the system they use was running slow so they told me to get the number and bring it in and they will look it up for me. I can't find the number anywhere on the online bill, so the question before I go back in tomorrow (and assuming the system will work), is am I entitled to a refund?
It seems an expensive mistake, just because she is far from a mobile phone genius.
Thanks to anyone that gets back in touch.

No. And by deleting the texts and not sending STOP you are effectively condoning they continue. The consumer is in a very weak position but a miskey of a short code can end up priming the pump for a tirade of premium services. They may offer a goodwill gesture, but you cannot insist on it.
The requirement to stop only affects replies to short code SMS, if they are standard +447xxxxx mobile numbers, replying in this way does nothing, but tell the spammer you are a live mobile number.0 -
Hi Everynamestaken,
Thanks for making me aware of this.
If you'd like me to get things looked into further, could you email me with your details via the link in our profile here?
All you need to do is copy and paste the link into your web browser and it'll take you to the Contact us form on our website. To make sure it reaches me could you also quote the code WRT135 - MSE in the subject line?
Once sent you'll receive an automated reply with a reference number. So I can make sure I've got it could you update the thread with this and I'll get back to you as soon as possible?
Kind regards,
Lee

Hi lee, I have only just seen your post.
I went into a few shops to see if it was worth trying to chase this up and one advisor told me "your partner did click on something to activate it so you can"t complain".
That comment above did contradict to what I have been told before regarding Vodafone opting customers in for texts, so on my
Morning off today I decided to have one last attempt to see if I could get some, if any, of my money back.
I am none the wiser regarding the technicalities but my partner has learnt to text "stop" immediately now, and the lady I spoke to this morning did indeed reimburse my charges of £27.
Thank you for my replying to my post and apologies for my ignorance.0 -
