I'll bet they won't accept a CC payment now anyway.

Who, the Company? I doubt it. He royally told me off last week for speaking with the regulatory bodies, but I needed honest advice, not just his version of advice and seeking to placate me when the job is obviously not what I contracted for, ie SSW facing system, but he has put up half the panels on a north facing roof, and the others split over two different orientations. I have been shafted. Thanks for the comments though.

Have you put your complaint in writing and given him ample time to rectify it?

Have you obtained quotes from other companies for how much it would take to bring the work in line with what you agreed? If not, it may be an idea to do this....get 3, send the middle one to him and state if he doesn't bring works in line with what was contractually agreed, you'll be pursuing him for the value of the quotation.

Have you gotten as far as the letter before action stage?

Hi unholyangel...i did write him immefiately saying i felt missold. He visited. Fobbed me off. I spoke with Which. They advised i send a letter of recission which i did as niciec also advised. I rang him to discuss that night . He dismissed me and the regulatory bodies...said i had to exhaust options with him...but he shouted at me for 20 minutes and i ended up aplogising to him. Spoke to RECC and REAL and they advised I complete a complaint form. He says he will no longer help me and i have shot myself in the foot talking/asking advice of the bodies who he sports accreditation from and who hd gave me leaflets about for my 'peace of mind'. I dont think he is concerned with me. Which template letter gave him 7 days to rescind and repay A solicitor i spoke to through my house insurance said to use the agencies arbitration and mediation proceses. One last thing...users on another forum think hes misled and failed to folliw the REAL/RECC Codes and i should have seen a design and had the chance to cancel if not in agreement with what he unilaterally decided to do

He's got £6k of the £6500 bill, frankly I doubt he is overly concerned, and certainly wouldn't accept a sum with CC.

Sounds to me like he's walking all over you - especially if you are apologising to him.

Unholy has given you excellent advice.
Which sounds questionable, notice of rescission? At this stage?

Send a letter giving him say 28 days to sort it out, if not get quotes for remedial work, send him a copy of the lowest telling him you'll be using the £500 towards it and pursuing him via the small claims court for the remaining sum.

Stop taking his calls, tell him you want to deal with it in writing. Were anyone to shout at me on the phone, I'd just hang up after warning them once.

Thanks I am really strugglong to get other companies out. Solicitors spoken to advise letters to him and let Recc/Real due process take place. I will send a letter today. Are you saying recission is none starter ? He has breached the contract and not followed the Recc code.

    Thanks

Jan, I think the above quote from Arcon5 is the most productive, otherwise, you will go around in circles. Perhaps you already have quotes from when you first decided on the project? As for the CC, I think they will only cover the £100 that you spent with them not the whole deal. ;)
2.5 kWp PV system, SSW facing, 45 Deg Roof. ABB Inverter, Monitor: 'Wattson'.
Reg. for FIT Nov 2011. "It's not what you generate; it's how you use it that matters". One very clean Vauxhall Diesel Sri, £30.00 Road Tax: B)

Definition of 'O's = kWh/kWp (kWh = your daily & accurate Generation figure) (kWp = the rated output of your PV Panels).

section 75 covers you for the whole amount (providing the total price of the item is above £100 and below £30k).

So if product is 31k and you pay £10k by card, you're not covered. But if the item is £10k and you only pay £5 by credit card, you're covered.

However when ordering multiple items, its the individual item cost that counts I believe, not the total cost (so cant buy 10 x £10 items and be covered).

Sorry Oscargrouch, that is not right.

As mentioned in post #8, paying as little as £1 by credit card makes the credit card company equally responsible for performance of the contract.

Although not spelt out in post #8, that means the CC Co are equally responsible for the whole purchase price even though as little as £1 may have been charged to the credit card.

Anyway, none of that applies to the OP, as they haven't paid anything by credit card.
