Hi Folks, I've recently changed networks from Orange to Vodafone... I've got a brand new iPhone 4 which is locked to the Orange network, still in its box and un-opened, has never been used!!... I was using another phone during my contract with Orange and just kept the iPhone 4 as a spare...

Anyway.. Orange can unlock it but as some of you know they seriously f**k about when it comes to unlocking phones, taking up to 20 days...

Does anyone know if i could go somewhere to do a swap of handsets (Orange Iphone for Vodafone iPhone) so i can use my new Vodafone sim in an iPhone thats available to the Vodafone network.

I dont think such a shop or service exits but just wanted your thoughts.

"up to 20 days" is a very optimistic estimation.
In fact it's likely to be at least 20. Also, I think you'll have problems as an ex-customer, not an existing one.

In a short answer, no. Just sell it on gumtree and use the funds to buy one on Vodafone or lock free.

Cheers guys.. Good call on the Gumtree option.

Whats a good asking price for an iPhone 4 thats still sealed in its box?

Iphone 4 is old hat now tbh, but you may still get someone wanting one for a kid / older relative for Xmas.

Just check out ebay and see what similar ones are going for.

As I said I'd get it on there asap, so u can sell it for Xmas.

Again iphone 4 will be obselete soon. I'd use the £ and put it towards a nexus 5 (£299 sin free from Google play, amazing phone) or if you don't want to stretch that much, a Motorola moto (£99 from tesco and better specs than an iphone 5c) or I'd you insist on staying apple, a used 4S.
