Hi all,
I want to upgrade my ADSL broadband to fibre however confused by the apparently conflicting information about which ISPs can provide it to my address. I've been a tiscali (now TT) customer for many years and apart from one traumatic episode a few years back when i lost my service for a few weeks and never got to the bottom of whether it was TTs or Openreach's fault (yes their phone support is the worst) they've been OK. So I THINK I'd rather avoid the hassle of switching if I can avoid it. According to the TT website I can't get fibre. However I've read that cant be relied on? According to uswitch i can get plusnet (and BT), but again not TT, so wondering about switching to plusnet.
What is the most reliable way of finding for certain whether TT can meet my needs? I'd phone them however worried about their sales team stringing me along when all i want is a straight yes/no answer. Ive gone to samknows and done a broadband check though not 100% sure what the results tell me! It says BT FTTC is available to me. But i dont know how to tell what ISPs can help; I thought that as a former tiscali customer i used the BT infrastructure but no idea really...
Even if I can get TT, I'm nervous about upgrading. However I'm equally nervous about switching away from them. Either option seems fraught with danger given the various TT horror stories. I can see them either screwing up the upgrade or messing me about switching. What would you do (apart from having nothing to do with them in the first place!?)
Thanks

All FTC services are simply resold BTW products, so if one can provide it, others can too.No free lunch, and no free laptop

So you're saying that since samknows says i have BT FTTC, i can get fibre from any ISP?0

Any ISP that is supplying FTC service .
What would you do (apart from having nothing to do with them in the first place!?)
Dependant upon the TT contract .
If out of contract start looking at other ISP like Plusnet .0 -
Are you on a TT LLU'd exchange?
There is no 'hassle' switching. Get your MAC, sign up, wait for the switch date, set up and plug in new router. No free lunch, and no free laptop

the "LLU xDSL" tab on samknows says I have TT (CPW) and Tiscali so i think thats a yes. I assume that means they should be able to offer me the option?
Your suggestion sounds like the lesser of 2 evils - don't think my contact should be a problem, i've been with them many many years - though cant imagine it being painless with TT!0 -
If you don't trust TT then go with one of the many other non-LLU providers offering FTTC: Plusnet being the obvious option. No free lunch, and no free laptop
