Yes, thats very true ... If the cars were going 5mph they could have their window open and speak to the children to wait whilst they drive past.0

Most schools want to maintain good relations with their neighbours. Just a quick call to explain what is happening and how it is impacting you should resolve the issue. I agree ear plugs are the way forward though. I live opposite a school and if I am in bed off sick I have wear them or even through double glazing I can hear playground noise.
Ive always found earplugs don't work that well, maybe i've been buying the wrong ones??0 -
If children are walking alone up this lane where cars are passing them, then they should be of an age where they can apply some common sense and take the necessary care. Otherwise surely their parents should be accompanying them, or more than one member of staff should be outside overseeing their safety. The teacher shouting at the top of her voice sounds very unprofessional. If you cant guide children in a calm fashion near moving traffic then you shouldn't be carrying out that role in my opinion. I think you would be wise to raise your concerns with the school and hopefully they will be happy to address this situation. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0

Surely the minibus should drop them off at the school gate. This is an accident waiting to happen. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

I guess your son needs to either soundproof his room, or find a way of tactfully asking 'mouth-almighty' to keep the racket down. Given that she can hardly whisper to the children to keep out of the road, I don't know what the solution would be, in practical terms..0

one of my friends mums worked as a secretary at our local high school , they sold off some of the sports field for housing, daily one person would ring up and complain that the kids were making too much noise , lol, if you live near a school, pub , hall, church , farm ,factory etc you have to face the fact that it is going to be noisy0

My main concern here is that the situation you describe is an accident waiting to happen. There should not be both young children and cars in a lane only a car's width wide. If the part being walked is only 100 ft, the cars should wait until the children have cleared it before moving on and the children should not be allowed out of the minibuses if the lane is not clear. Perhaps that is the line you could initially take. There's also nothing to stop you simply explaining why your son needs to sleep at this time and that recently this has been impossible.. . .I did not speak out
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me..

There is a serious health and safety issue here. If the teachers cars can access the school grounds why cant the minibuses? and shouldn't the teachers get to school before the children start arriving?
When my three went to the local primary school the teachers and parents could access the school car park - but some parents shot out of there like demons. I and other parents complained about this as it was a real hazard to people approaching from the footpath and having to cross the drive in front of the gates - nothing was done until there was an 'accident'. luckily not too serious, but only then did they ban access to the car park between the 15 minutes the children arrived for school.0 -

Thanks everyone, all your ideas have been taken onboard
Im definitely going to address this in the New Year, as they will be finishing soon for the Christmas holidays.
Somehow a part of me doesn't feel comfortable about discussing the speed, its just the very loud shouting (about 15ft away from our house) thats bothering us, so I think that is where I will begin. As mentioned by a few of you I will make them aware that my son is being jolted from his sleep every morning by the shouting, and then see what they say in return. Hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised by their response/actions and won't have to take it any further.0
