  • I'd like to join you all if i may.

Tru, i have had that happen to me and it is very horrible. Drains you completely and seemingly comes out of nowhere. Glad you okay now.

Today i have to take food mixer over to mums as we going to make a big batch of icing up for the christmas cake she has made. Will also try to help her figure out how to use her new combi microwave.

Need to sort out my freezers. Need and want to make room for christmas nibbles i hope to make.

    Best wishes to all.

    Morning all,

Quick one from me as I am running late, off to work in a while but at least its Friday !

DD finished Uni for xmas yesterday, they went out last night to celebrate and she stayed with her mate I am sure I will see her at some point today.

Dinner will be meatballs (I think), so nice and easy. Had 8 inches cut off my hair and had it razored to thin it a bit, I am thrilled with it, the yound girl who did it was marvellous and really put me at ease, will use her again.

Bitsy how is DS getting on ?

    Have good days all xx

Julie67 now that's interesting. I've just looked it up online (no weird sites, just the NHS one!). Only one thing applies to me - food. I used to eat little and often, but lately I've been trying to eat at 'proper' mealtimes - this means I'm going longer between meals. I wonder if I should go back to grazing? A couple of years ago, I had a few appointments with the doc - sometimes fasting blood tests, sometimes normal blood tests and always had my blood pressure taken. Blood pressure is in the normal range but on the low end of it. I've had similar happen before but I can't remember if I've gone a few hours without eating when they happened. Will experiment with more snacks - YAY! lol - and ring the doc if it happens again.

  • Hi chums just about to whizz off to Ebbsfleet to drop my brother off.The damp weather has developed into a rather cold rain and its very dark and gloomy here in the Garden of England. Not nice weather at all.

DGS Mikey has developed a nasty cough and I must get him some cough drops bless him.Don't want any coughs or sneezes around for Christmas.Only one more week then they break up.I really enjoy the Christmas holiday break from school with the boys, as we get to snuggle up in the warm and watch a few movies, and its nice not to have to rush around quite so much :):) We will do some baking (which they all join in with).I make 'biscuit boys' with the gingerbread man cutter and we dip the feet in melted chocolate and decorate with icing and small jelly tots for buttons so our biscuit boys have choclate boots and sweeties up their tummys for buttons.Cheap to make, lots of fun for the boys, and fills an afternoon while Mum is at work.
I try to think of things to do that won't break the bank when they are on their holidays. The eldest one Ben isn't a problem, as he normally goes off out with his pals (he is 18 next Monday ) and the other three are 13 ,12 & 9 so I like to get them doing things then they don't fall out or start to argue.
I have a NT card that they are all on, so I can get them out to castles and stuff, but if the weather is bad, then its indoor stuff.

Last year we made Christmas crackers which was really good, and even the older ones wanted to decorate and do 'cutting up' stuff.
Their Mum and Dad don't get a lot of time off this year so I will be ferrying them here and there I think.
Well time I got a move on as my brother is ready to go.
have a good day and keep wrapped up warm

    Hi everyone,
I wrote a long post a while ago but lost it when the laptop went awry, it seems to happen whenever there is a windows update - Norton virus checker doesn't like it. Anyhoo done a restore and it's now working.

I didn't post yesterday because I spent the whole day with mum. I was trying to get her to make a decision but she just shrugs and says what do you think? I'm sure it's a result of 50 years with my dad who was very overbearing and controlling.

Did anyone else decide to marry a man as little like their dad as possible, lol. I know people think that I'm the one in control in the family because I'm more vocal but DH has a real stubborn streak, if he doesn't want to do something he won't argue but he doesn't do it. Funnily enough both dd and ds have ended up with partners who have very similar personalities to DH and me.

I've been waiting for a delivery but it's now arrved so I'm about to pack up the car for the drive to Bedfordshire, hopefully it won't be too bad but it will still take me 4 hours.

Hester, take it easy you don't want to be ill over Christmas.

Tru - that sounds nasty, I hope you don't have another one.

Just lost a long post due to problems on the site when I pressed 'post'.

    Bother!

    Precis instead;

*Good carol concert with the rugby club last night
    * DH has buffet in work at lunchtime (everybody contributes, not provided by the Dept!)
    * I have school staff night out tonight and have narrowed choice down to two dresses, both donkey's years old but never worn.
    * Damp and grey here so looking for something cheerful to do to raise spirits

Have as good a day as you can x

With regards to "a lump of meat on a plate" , do you have a good old fashioned butcher near you?

Ours does a family pack for about £17.50 - 1lb sausages, stewing steak, chicken, mince and pork steaks and I get five main meals for four or five of us out of it, (more if I use chicken carcass for soup and the meat on it for another dish.

I got a ham shank for about £2.20. make pea and ham soup with it and then have the shank sliced up to have with chips, mash and veg, salad or to make omelettes, quiches etc.

DD back from uni last night so going to make her a nice breakfast and get started on making soup for lunch. She has asked for home made lasagne tonight so looks like I'll be busy ;)

    Hugs to all

    Afternoon all.
Another sleepless night, so as a result my head is pounding. Would have stayed in bed for a while but was disturbed by the window cleaners, then my brother stopped off for a coffee on the way to work. Am off to excavate the freezer to find some space for boxing day, as apparently DD and boyfriend and my brother are coming here expecting Christmas dinner, my mum is cooking for us on 25th and not a great cook, DDs boyfriend's mum is cooking for them and she generally lives on ready meals etc , apparently last year she burned the veg!
Need to pop out for veggies too, will make soup later I think.
    Have a good day all!
