OS Daily Thread Friday13th December

Options
OS Daily Thursday 12th December This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all
Can't sleep so I thought I'd get up & start the thread.
Sending good vibes for Moly, Hilstep, NPM and hugs to those in need.
Definitely feeling the 'thank crunchie it's Friday' feeling, I'm hoping to get some rest at the weekend.
Have a good day everyone,
Hugs Hester

  • Morning,

Another one here up too early...

Today is another busy day, DD1 & DD2 have Drs appointments bright and early. I have an appointment with DS tutor later this morning too. I need to go to the post office to meet the deadline for posting to Europe, and go into the nearest town to buy my Christmas tree!

In anticipation of a busy day I have no washing, ironing or bread to make today so I can just focus on what needs doing :)

Today is day 1 of 24 of DH leave, it's either going to be an amazing few weeks or I'm going to end up throttling him! Obviously I'm hoping for the first :)

Tonight we're having HM Chicken Goujions with HM Chips, HM Tzatziki and Salsa with Corn on the Cob! We like to make a more special meal twice a month to avoid the 'craving' for take out food! It seems to work for us :)

I'm off to update my grocery challange, I spent £255.05 this last period of 4 weeks, my budget was £250. My next period I'm cutting down to our usual budget of £240 and as I've made my 4 week meal plan and ordered my shopping, it looks promising :)

Hope everyone has a great day x
We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy!

  • Good morning everyone :)

TGIF and it's my last one in this job!

In a dash as usual as still need to make up about 5 hours lieu time before I leave, there is absolutely nothing to do and to make us do this is just spite but hey I'll be gone this time next week so I will just grin and bear it.

Better get a move on and get in the shower so will leave with usual well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super day :)

  • Good Morning All.
Very bleary eyed this morning. Yesterday was non stop. Worked from 5.30am till 9.15 pm without a break as it was the xmas fair and loads needed doing (no to mention the cleaning up afterwards)
Still today will be better as i am going to see my 4 week old GD and spend some quality time spoiling her as only a Grams can do. (must pick up her cot mobile for her xmas pressie).
No idea what we are having for dinner tonight but DD has offered to by Chinese as a treat so might take her up on that.
Oh well i had better shake my touche and get some work done.
Hugs to all that need them xx
    Bright Blessings xx

At about 6pm yesterday, I had what my old neighbour would call a 'funny turn'. I felt the colour drain from my face (weird feeling, that), my stomach knotted up and I had a cold sweat. I had to haul myself upstairs with the handrail, I looked in the mirror and my face was white. I opened the windows wide, stripped off and led on the bed in the dark til I was shivering. I couldn't stand anything touching me, I even had to take the clip out of my hair, lol. I shivered for about 15 mins, then felt better. I went back downstairs, fell asleep on the sofa for an hour, then went to bed. I feel worn out this morning, but perfectly fine. Very strange.

We're going to town today, I'm dreading it :D Mr tru is a terrible shopper. I might suggest we split up and meet in my fave coffee shop a couple of hours later, that way he's got a time limit. I'll have finished way before him so I'll have at least one coffee in peace before he turns up :D

    Morning All

Busy day yesterday, went to the Glasgow Science Centre with school, it was great, they really enjoyed it (so did I as I've not been for years). We travelled by train so they were all super excited. Went straight to hospice shift as there was an accident on the road home and it took me over an hour to do a 15 min journey - at least I was safe, hope the folk involved are ok.

I was so tired when I got home that DD had a bacon sandwich and I had bacon and egg! Thoroughly enjoyed it though.

Got a big fat cheque from the house sale, need to decide what to do with it. Got a council tax letter yesterday, this house is much smaller than the other one and the council tax is more expensive! We are now in a different authority which is obviously dearer. Oh well, it will probably work out about the same each month as I wont be spending as much on fuel.

Work today and then staff evening out, we are going to a restaurant in Glasgow and then the younger ones will probably go out - I will come home and go to bed! Up early tomorrow to go to Glasgow to get the last of my christmas pressies and hand in a gift to the EA, I know they get a good commission but she did work hard for us.

Hugs to all, thinking of you Hilstep. Take care. XX

    Morning all!

That does sound nasty try and I'm glad you're OK now.

I spent yesterday mostly in bed feeling sorry for myself for no particular reason. Then I was awake for two hours overnight and have woken with another headache this morning. I have things to do today (although I'm too dozy to know what they are just yet ...) so it's paracetamol and then onwards and upwards!

MSE-wise today's pay day (pension day really) for me so I've been moving money about and budgeting. It's going to be a lean five weeks. This won't do me any harm but isn't very Christmassy!

OS-wise I think today will see me pick up my knitting needles in an effort to keep myself awake until a proper bedtime. If I read or laze about watching TV I just get sleepier and sleepier (it's a side-effect of medication and a real pain in the rear!).

Onwards and upwards - and hugs to all who need them :)

  • Good Morning chums ,well after school run I have to drop my brother off at Ebbsfleet as he is off home this morning to France. He has had a nice time and is going home loaded up with stuff he can't get over there.
We had a lovely meal at DDs last night and DGS Henry was full of his trip to Twickenham to see the Rugby with his school (Oxford won as well :):):) ) which we were pleased about as I used to live there and met his Granddad there back in the 1960s so I always cheer for Oxford :):):) Henry loves any sort of sport that uses a ball :):) especially football and rugby
This afternoon we break up from History club and I think we are doing the interwar years.
Christmas is galloping nearer chums but I have done and wrapped all of my pressies and all the cards are posted ,so for once I have no rushing around to do.
I don't even need to go to buy any food shopping as my cupboards have more than enough to last through to the New year.I am away for the last week of December at both DDs in turn so I am running down my fridge at the moment.
Right time to get a wriggle on
Have a great day everyone whatever you are doing.
Not too cold here at the moment ,more a bit on the damp side
    Cheers chums

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Still dark here, but looks wet everywhere, so has rained during the night.

DH up and now getting ready for work.

Dinner last night was chicken and bacon risotto, was lovely, clean plates all round. Although DH is not overly keen, so did manage to find a piece of battered fish floating about in the freezer, so gave him that aswell. Cup cakes for dessert. He always wants a "lump" of meat. Have been trying to get him to realise how much food has gone up in price and that we're going to have to cut down. Not sure he really understands, as his attitude is I go out to work all day and work hard so I should be able to have what I want, I do see where he's coming from but unfortunately life isn't like that and we can't all just have what we want when we want it, as he's going to learn! Tonight will be something quick and easy.

Was reasonably productive yesterday, did manage to get the housework done, did most of the washing, drying and ironing, still a little left but nothing too much. Will continue with that today. Got xmas cake covered in marzipan. Iced cup cakes. Sorted my desk and shredded lots of paper. Did a couple of jobs on the pc.

Still need to finish xmas shopping, write cards, wrap prezzies and need to get some decs and tree up - not sure when that will be! It won't be this weekend I don't think as we're too busy.

    Keep safe and well x

    Good morning everyone

I have woken up in such a great mood today even after having very little sleep. I went on a discipleship course at my church and it was amazing, I feel all fired up now and ready for whatever life chucks at me! I have made some great friends and heard some humbling and exciting stories and can't wait to get more involved.

Anyway, back to the mundane...DDs and Hubby are getting ready to go off to work/school. Hooray it's Friday, they are all tired and waiting to break up next week. Even Hubby has booked off 2 weeks from work next week and I'll be so happy to have them all home. I do get lonely but after Christmas I get my OU stuff through so I'm really looking forward to that.

Evil kitten was sick on the floor this morning but seems ok, I'll keep an eye on him though. He's probably eaten something disgusting!

I'm 'cooking' salmon wellington tonight, ok I'm opening the cardboard box and putting it in the oven :rotfl:with new potatoes and green beans. Hubby will have something else as he's not that keen on fish. Tomorrow we have a cooked breakfast with my eldest DD and grandkids joining us. I look forward to it every week especially as I don't have to do the cooking.:D

That's all my waffle for today, hugs and prayers winging their way towards everyone, especially thinking of Hilstep.
    Cheers m'dears x

    Good morning,

Looks like we're all busy bees at the moment :D,I'm not getting much chance to post atm, still lots to do yet.Yesterday I had my hair cut, much needed :eek:I'd got into town and was just on my way to collect a car seat from Argoose when he rang to see if I was still coming but by my reckoning I still had 25 mins to go.Luckily I wasnt far off and got there in 5 mins, but I checked my text and he'd got it wrong not me-good job we're old friends.Anyway he did the cut and was just getting my coat when the next lady came so no harm done-went back and got the seat.My feet hurt from rushing around and it didnt help when I took lyla out in the fields when I got back and slipped on a muddy path and bruised my side on a branch

DS2 and family were coming for tea so I'd made cottage pie before I went out thank goodness.New baby GS was back at hospital early in the week with bronchiolitis but seems better now so we had a pleasant evening and even managed it without one episode of Peppapig for DGD.Grandpa played with her with playdough while I had a cuddle with baby, then it was time for her new favourite thing-a shower! We have a separate cubicle and she lies in it singing :rotfl:and saying 'oh that's nice'.

I've got a chicken for tonights tea, prob with chips.I cant decide whether or not to go up to boots this morning and get the bargain bundle.I'm thinking I could take the products out of the bag and split them through the year for birthday pressies.I'm meeting a dog walking friend at 1 so need to be organised, and dgd is staying overnight too.

Hugs to Hilstep, and anyone else who needs one.
    Enjoy your shopping tru :D
