Has anyone tried onlinecarbooty.com?

Seems like a good way to sell some stuff without having to stand out in the cold! No end fees, just a fee to hold a stall.

If it is the one I think it is then it is extremely expensive for such a limited market.

  • It's £3 for upto 10 items,£7 for upto 50 items and £10 for upto 100 items.
  • This seems to be posted every couple of months.

It has a fair amount of facebook likes, but that doesn't mean anything. The site design isn't great and, if I remember right, you can't check out half the site without paying to sell stuff. Also not sure how protected you are if things go wrong.

The fees you've listed are expensive considering you've no idea how many potential buyers there are and how much you'll make.

Basically it's not a site I'd use personally. There are better options out there.

The timed aspect of it isn't a bad idea. The execution of the site and charges need a massive overhaul.
It would work with Gumtree, Facebook or even Ebid having targetted monthly sales.
It seems like a lot of time and effort for possibly no return for me to use it. Also the security aspects are alarming, there's no protection at all as far as I can see.

So basically 30p an item for a small seller, why wouldn't they use ebid or such like with a worldwide audience and list for free? Preloved is also free, as is Gumtree and Facebook selling.

  • When buying stuff, people go to Gumtree, ebay and the like. If you're not looking at alternatives, then are your customers?
  • tried it as a buyer once, signed up fairly late so it was free.

lots of sellers had no prices on their stalls, sent about 4 different sellers messages about items with about an hour to go, got no replies.

Never tried again as it's pointless if you cant buy!!
if i had known then what i know now

Really? Interesting. Surely considering the whole point is to sell you'd think that they'd be forced to give prices. I suppose the site doesn't care if they're getting money anyway but it's hardly going to make people come back again.
  • The site has improved a lot since they first started. I enjoy it every week as a buyer.. I sold on there 2 weeks ago and did really well.
