my mum has a nokia very old mobile for text and phones, (she's 76) so doesn't want anything technical, she's on orange payg and puts about £10 on a year lol
We wanted to buy her a new phone, that unlocked, then she can keep her number, but £5 phones then say £10 top up, is there anywhere I can just buy a cheap phone for her without paying for the top up.
thanks

If you're happy to stick with Orange, then you could try an upgrade which normally avoid having to buy credit with the phone ( I think!) - try here? - http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/pay-as-you-go/deal-finder?PPAYUPG

thank you for those replies.
I think i'll get this one. It's just a added little present for her.

For older people phones made by "Doro" are well worth a look.
At 76 a "normal" phone will probably be OK but if sight and or hearing are a problem I'm quite a fan of the Doro.0 -
If she is sticking with Orange, you could essentially top the phone up for ever using the recycling credit scam I've been pulling for the past couple of years - with ReadyDeal 50 you use £50 in credit to apply 6 £10 top ups for the next 6 months, then you repeat every 6 months - providing £20 in free credit every year, which sounds like it would cover all your mum's usage.0
