Samsung Warrenty "Liquid Ingress"

I have been told by Samsung that they are not going to repair my Galaxy S2 due to liquid ingress. I know for a fact the phone has not been in contact with water and has been inside a protective case for the last 11 months. The phone overheated and crashed during a phone call and has never worked since.
I would like to know what rights I have to get them to carry out warranty. They did send me a picture of evidence, however I have looked at the s2 main board and cannot even find this part on one. Also the picture looks like a bit of solder rather than water damage.
Im not sure how I can show you the picture beacuse I am a newby but have got one.
as much help as I can get would be great. I am willing to fight this all the way as I know it is not my fault

Put the picture on photbucket and post the link on here, it will show up with spaces in the link.0 -
Why they can not sell the new phones, people are not daft, they pulled the same stunt once to often .
Customers are wise to Samsung's warranty shams now.Be happy...;)0 -

Yes, I sent them an email asking for a zoomed out picture an explanation, the comments I got back were...
The residue mark as shown on the picture appears to be a white chalky residue mark on the main board indicated the device has been in contact with liquid ingress. The repairs arrows shows this.
Im not sure that this is even my phone or if it was, what damage that would cause...0 -
eh may want to rehost that on a photobucket that isn't your real name
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
As for OP's problem.....how long have you had the phone and who did you get it from? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

You may want to edit your previous post so your name doesn't show up there either. I purposely didn't quote your post so that I wouldn't be quoting your name

As for the phone....technically your rights are with whomever you are contracted to. However, given its more than 6 months from purchase, you may have to prove the fault is inherent and not the result of misuse - usually done via independent report, the cost of which should be refunded if found in your favour. However given the contract is likely about to end and the possibility of water damage, it may be more cost effective to start looking at a new deal.
There was a thing on watchdog ages ago about phones coming back from manufacturer as water damaged but the phone not being water damaged. I remember iphones being prone to it but cant remember if other models were mentioned.
Basically the phone had indicators that changed once they came into contact with water. The problem was that the indicators were extremely sensitive and would turn with even just a bit of moisture in the air or using the phone in the rain!
Perhaps something similar here if you're 100% sure theres been no water at all going into it.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
I was planning on keeping this phone until something really new came about and reducing my tariff. I can get a phone I like on a really good deal and will probably be doing this now.
However I really am sure that the phone was damaged through overheating. I did install the latest firmware about a week before the indecent and the phone was overheating quite frequently since. The difference being that the last time it overheated and crashed, it did not turn back on.
I am really certain that the damage was not caused through water ingress.
You say that I need to prove the fault was inherent, would it be enough to eliminate the water damage to prove this or could they come back with more made up story's that I would need to continue to disprove? Would the independent report need to find the actual fault and cause to stand up to scrutiny in a small claims court?
I think that so many people have had same issue as me that unless somebody stands up to these companies they will continue to mislead customers into thinking they have a 24 month warranty when in fact after 6 months they can blame cause on anything and you need to disprove it.0 -
To be honest, they will need a near miracle to get back in the market, the grass has grown well under their feet on technology of late.Be happy...;)0

I had a similar experience with the same phone, but in my case Samsung said the screen had pixellated due to being dropped or banged. It was 3 weeks old. I knew neither of those things had happened but they were adamant that it was not an inherent fault.0
