That Halfords price is cheaper than the search which I just did on Black Circles. They came out at £154.

That is the downside of Blackcircles, you are at the mercy of an unknown fitter. The garage which fitted mine were hopeless, thankfully they are no longer a Blackcircles approved fitter.

They are also inclined to be a bit less careful, because they are not making as much money from the Black Circles (or for that matter any of the other online companies) as their own sales.

The customer chooses the fitter from a list of local ones that Blackcircles has contracts with. There were lots near me. The situation is no worse than phoning around local fitters yourself really.

Had a good experience a few weeks ago with Black Circles. Best price (Goodyear winter tyres) and they directed me for fitting with a proper independent fitter who did a great job. Very pleased and will use again.

I had the same experience as Richard53. I got Bridgestone's and I'm very pleased as well.

I agree. All of the Blackcircles fitters near me are not tyre fitters but garages. I picked one at random as I didn't know any of them. The one I picked were so slow because they were not used to fitting tyres all day. After that experience I've gone back to tyre fitters. There is an independent one near home who has competitive prices and offer a fast service.

I wouldn't have thought that a fitting garage is going to deliberately offer a poorer service just because they have a customer via blackcircles.

^^ This. Also, once you have the contact details there's nothing to stop you contacting them directly to see what they'll offer themselves. Sometimes, and I know of one in particular will actually beat their own Blackcircle price.

I have found a local tyre specialist, that also does proper wheel alignment with top spec equipment, Elite in Rainham, also undercuts Blackcircles and MyTyres and had a better selection than Costco.

I think either the internet places are pushing up prices or the rest of the industry is adjusting prices to match or beat

I would happily pay an extra few quid a tyre for the convenience of getting them done right now.
  • I searched on line to find the best price, after looking at test results. I opted for Goodyear Efficient Grip due to the test results as well as the ratings for grip in the wet and fuel economy. I can't remember which company quoted the best price online, but one of their approved fitters was actually the one I usually use (and it is a proper tyre depot rather than a garage).

So armed with the best price I could find I popped in to the local fitters, and asked for my usual good price on the Goodyears, without telling him what I had found on line. And guess what, he beat their price by £2 per tyre.
  • Formula1 yres will usually beat a local quotes and beat halfrauds prices
