Daughter and boyfriend rented two bed unfurnished house. She supplied all furniture, they parted.
Since then a couple of girls have lived there with the benefit of the furniture. No problems all were happy.
Daughter is now going on travels for seven months. So what to do with the furnishings? Storage? In situ and charge?

It's your daughter's furniture. It's her decision.0 -
Did you give your daughter the furniture or is it on loan?
If you gave it and your daughter and her BF are over 18 then it's their decision, not yours. Likewise if the friends trash the place and fail to pay the rent while your daughter is away for 7 months. If your daughter and her BF are the ones on the tenancy agreement they're the ones who will be responsible for it (unless, of course, you acted as guarantor for the rental, in which case it could come back to bite you on the behind).
If the furniture was loaned by you and you don't want anyone else having use of it then ask your daughter to bring it back to you while she's on her travels. I can't imagine anyone wanting to pay extra to someone who isn't the LL for the use of their furniture, especially when they could probably kit the place out cheap or free from Freecycle and local charity shops.0 -
I'm a bit confused. Surely she'd do what everyone else does in this situation? flog it, give it to a charity shop or store it?
not too sure why you are involved in this? If she is asking to keep it at your house then that's up to you to negotiate.
As someonelse said. She's an adult, she needs to sort it and make arrangements.

Doesn't storage cost more than letting the others use it?0

Thanks all, I gifted the furniture from our family home ,I'm now living in a rabbit hutch.
She is travelling for months, medical volunteering so has no money for storage, I've said I'll pay any bills, but the chances of her returning to an unfurnished to use the furniture is minimal.
Sorry to be so vague, but I don't know either.
Things change from day to day and I'm tired of it. For instance, she was coming for Christmas.
No way would she work over Christmas, now she is, so it's me and the dog. Great!
I need a couple of days to sort this in my head at least. Thanks for caring to reply. I am totally peed off.0 -
Things like sofas and armchairs need to carry the fire resistant label if the property is rented out, and likewise I think if given to charity.
If they don't meet this standard, then storage only I think.0
